Recap

Motion graphic of a comic book encounter between Space Case and Torminox.

In real life, Dorothy regales a group of Danny followers with a tale of retrieving Niles’s necklace from the museum curator he had traded it to.

Because he’d refused to return it, Dorothy used Candlemaker to take it back. Crystal and Dead Boys used the necklace to conjure Niles and Dorothy tells the crowd their reunion was perfect.

A trio of drag queens examine some hateful graffiti. Maura Lee Karupt states that they’ll continue to carry on until their message is heard. Together, they cover the graffiti with new spray painted artwork with the message “Bona to Vada.”

Their work done, they return to Danny via the ambulance, ignoring some ignorant teens making crude gestures nearby.

Maura Lee has a word with Danny, discussing the occupancy of the camp and checking on if Danny’s holding up ok.

Dorothy sits alone watching a girl and her dads celebrate a birthday with ice cream. Danny checks in on her. She insists she’s fine. Danny manifests a banana split and Dorothy rejects it, telling Danny she’s not a kid anymore and to stop hovering.

Maura Lee notices and follows Dorothy. Three bug drones follow Maura, land, and quickly multiply.

Maura Lee and Dorothy talk. Dorothy expresses a desire to be left alone. Maura Lee reminds her how lucky they are to have Danny.

Outside, the bug drones attack the Danny denizens, stinging them which causes their eyes to go red and then they pass out.

Inside Dorothy’s trailer, Maura Lee takes a look at the Space Case comic Dorothy’s been reading. When Dorothy continues to be recalcitrant, Maura Lee advises her to find someone she can connect with because it’s not healthy hiding in her room all day everyday.

The power goes out which alerts them to something bad happening. They come out. Maura Lee swats a bug drone that approaches her. She orders Dorothy back into her trailer. She approaches one of the drag queens from behind but discovers a robot in a wig when she turns her around.

All of the denizens have been transformed. Maura Lee runs back into Dorothy’s trailer. The denizens begin pounding on the trailer. Dorothy sees them through the window and recognizes them as Torminox’s foot soldiers from her comic.

Maura Lee asks Dorothy to bring out the Candlemaker but Dorothy insists the only person who can deal with the robots is Space Case, Casey Brinke. She stares at the cover of the comic book until a sound is heard outside with a flash of light and then Casey is gone from the cover. The robots have also stopped pounding on the trailer.

There’s a knock at the door. Casey steps inside and tells them they need to prepare because if the Vectra are here, Torminox isn’t far behind.

Outside Danny, the Vectra are swarming the ambulance, preventing Danny from jumping away.

Torminox approaches Danny and gets a report from one of the Vectra. He tries to enter through the ambulance but finds the entrance gone.

Casey is filling in Maura Lee and Dorothy on how she plans to deal with Torminox. Suddenly, she’s distracted by hunger. Dorothy introduces her to food.

Maura Lee has a word with Dorothy to ask how Casey came to be. Dorothy gives her the back story on Casey and Torminox and how he’s her father. She shows Maura Lee the comic book that’s missing Casey from the cover.

Torminox touches the ignition key for Danny the Ambulance and infects them. In the camp, Danny tries to warn Dorothy and Maura Lee but is shut down.

One of the Vectra revives while Dorothy is explaining to Casey that she’s a story.

The Vectra attacks and Casey fights him but Maura Lee has to get Dorothy to intervene before Casey zaps and kills him. Dorothy explains that Casey can’t kill the infected denizens because they want to get them back somehow.

In order to convince Casey that she’s a work of fiction, Dorothy recounts for her the entire backstory of Casey Brink, aka Space Case.

A planet appears in the sky about Danny Camp. The Vectra all revive and stand up. Casey tells Dorothy and Maura Lee to run as she holds off the Vectra.

Dorothy and Maura Lee emerge from the ambulance to be faced by Torminox who demands Dorothy’s necklace.

Dorothy refuses and Torminox shrinks Danny into a tiny box. Casey leaps out at the last minute.

She prepares to face off against Torminox but Torminox asks her to leave this place and says please which throw her off and she’s unable to battle him. Dorothy calls on Candlemaker. Candlemaker takes care of the goons but Torminox touches him and begins to infect him. He tells Dorothy to run. Maura Lee seconds that and they and Casey flee. Torminox turns Candlemaker into a small box too.

Hiding in a building, Dorothy confronts Casey about freezing in battle. Casey tells her this time it was different. Now that she’s in the real world, she wonders if Torminox will be gone for good if she defeats him here.

Maura Lee sees another kid about to graffiti her mural and rushes out to confront him. He’s actually trying to fix the mural. Maura has an idea and asks the kid how much paint he has.

They wait for Torminox to arrive. When he does, he repeats his demand for Dorothy’s necklace. Casey offers him a chance to redeem himself. The kids flips a light on the mural space to reveal an image of Casey and her father before he was turned into Torminox.

He seems intrigued and they get close but then he grabs Casey and holds his weapon on her, demanding the necklace.

Dorothy removes the necklace and comes clean with the fact she didn’t retrieve the necklace with Candlemaker. Crystal and the Dead Boys did it for her. She hadn’t spoken to any of her imaginary friends in months, locking them away because they reminded her of Niles.

She’s never conjured Niles because there’s too much left to tell him. She offers the necklace to Torminox. She tells Torminox that Casey needs her dad.

Torminox says nothing. His goons hand over the boxes containing Danny and the Candlemaker. They all disappear.

In the Danny Camp, the denizens are all returned to themselves. Danny apologizes for not being able to protect them. Maura Lee addresses the denizens and suggests they need to reach out to their allies and live differently.

Maura Lee leads a singalong to bolster the denizens’ spirits.

Dorothy offers Casey some water. They talk about Casey’s path forward. Casey believes Torminox can change. She plans to find whomever wrote their story and make them write a new one.

Dorothy decides to go with her. Danny provides them with a car to tow Dorothy’s trailer. They head for Cloverton.

A boy sits at a drafting table drawing the Space Case comics. Dr. Janus brings the amulet of Rita’s emotions and states, “Immortus will rise,” Torminox arrives with Dorothy’s necklace. He asks if Immortus can make him the man he was for Casey. The boy promises all their pasts will be cleansed when Immortus rises.

Final shot is of a drawing of Casey being pushed on a swing by her father.

Maura Lee

This necklace kept my father alive so he could spend nearly a hundred years with me. And even though he’s gone, I know he’ll always be in here. No matter how impossible the odds may seem, Love always wins out.
