Tom, Matt and Dan run into a couple of brothers who offer to help them, but kidnap Tom to ransom him to the Espheni. Tom thinks they've killed his son and friend, but leaves a trail just in case, which Matt and Dan follow as they are indeed alive and well. Meanwhile, Hal's group continues to move on with Shaq and his group. Shaq comes up with an unusual plan to take down a mech, which leads to them discovering the entire Espheni network and allows them to continue their journey in safety as they can see where all of the alien patrols are. 

Back in the land of peace, Lexi gets angry at her mother for capturing the monk. So angry that she chokes Anne with her mind and promptly falls into a dangerously high fever. Anne beats the monk to get him to help, but it's Ben who suffers the consequences. The plan does work though and Anne gets the remedy she wants for Lexi. 

Meanwhile, Tom manages to pit his two enemies against each other, but almost ends up with a bullet in his head anyway. Luckily, Dan shows up out of the blue to save him. Finally, Lexi awakes from her fever and all seems well until Anne discovers that her daughter had the monk released. Anne asks why and is given a shocking piece of new when Lexi says the monk is her father.
