Recap

Miles receives another friend request, this time for a woman named Katie Brooks.

He keeps denying the friend request because he's "done" with this God account and wants to focus on what's important -- his new gig with Frequency media.

The boss says he believes in his podcast and that it "cuts through the noise," but that he also has to drop every mention of the "God account."

In his mind, it will be better for the brand if he takes a specific stance, in this case, that the world is a godless place.

Miles isn't completely comfortable with it, but he's willing to do whatever to secure the dream job.

The moment he agrees to drop the God account, the account changes its profile picture to a thunderstorm and rain begins pouring outside.

As he waits to record his promos, he decides to play along with the account and meets Cara at the diner where Katie works.

When Katie walks in, the boss begins chewing her out about being late once again.

Miles intervenes and tells the boss to apologize to his worker, but in his fury, he fires her instead.

Miles feels so guilty about it, he has Rakesh track down Katie's address.

When he arrives at her apartment, she's a bit skeptical about the stranger who is stalking her but senses genuine intentions.

In that exact moment, her babysitter cancels as she's headed out for a job interview and she entrusts Miles to watch her autistic son, Nate.

When Nate leaves the diner, Miles doesn't know how to stop him because Katie said that he doesn't like to be touched.

He follows him to a music store where Nate is drawn to the piano. In an effort to appease Nate, Miles plays him "Lean on Me" on the piano.

At the same time, Rakesh tracks down the God account at Hell's Kitchen and tells Cara to go scoop up Miles.

Cara and Katie arrive at the same time and freak out that he and Nate are nowhere to be found.

They eventually make it to the music shop where Katie witnesses Nate connecting with Miles, something he's never done with her.

She scolds Miles for leaving the restaurant with her son and storms out.

Miles tells Cara he is done with the God account but Cara tells him if he won't continue helping Katie, she will.

At his celebration party, Miles has an argument with his father who came to support but refused to listen to his podcast.

Cara calls to tell him that Nate has gone missing. He rushes over there and the three of them begin retracing Nate's steps.

They find him in Central Park playing a song Katie sang to him when he was a little boy.

As she sits down next to him, he acknowledges her and smiles.

Miles and Cara find satisfaction in helping yet another person.

Cara goes off to find a way to connect with her mother by running with her.

Miles turns down the Frequency job offer and tells his would-be boss that it isn't the message he's trying to spread.

He believes that people are ready to have a real conversation about fate and tells him to listen in if he wants to learn more.

Rakesh apologizes to Jaya about jumping to conclusions after he spotted her on a date. The two decided to give their relationship a chance.

Miles' father finally listens to his podcast.

God Friended Me Season 1 Episode 2 Quotes

Cara: You know Miles, I think you're looking at this whole God account thing wrong. I mean, why don't you stop seeing it as a nuisance and see it for what it is?
Miles: Which is what ice cream lady?
Cara: Which is, if we find out who's behind this account, that'll make for an amazing story. And if it turns out to be God, greatest mystery of the universe solved. Win-win.

The thing is, I know it's not God. I don't believe in God. But I am determined to find out who this is.
