- Mariana and Callie bump into Claire and Raj and they have niceties, catch up, and lie about how well they're doing. Raj texts Callie to tell her that it's a lie and they're not doing well with Mariana and vice versa.
- Alice is awkward around Lindsay.
- Scott makes some cuts on the showcase acts.
- Malika pitches her latest idea for women who haven't been convicted being held needs more than just childcare and she wants to go for a grant to provide more services. Malika volunteers to do the grant for it even though the deadline is soon.
- Dyonte hasn't pitched his idea yet and he and Malika find out that they will be competing against each other for the actual job there as the internship closes.
- Opening statements for Tommy's trial begins.
- The proseucution changes their timeline to Tommy going to get beer after bludgeoning Zach to death, and it throws off Callie in the others who started building their case around the timeline beer run.
- Malika pries to get more information about Dyonte's mini-campaign and offers to help him with it even though she has a deadline coming up.
- She even tells him to go out for the same grant that she's going for.
- Malika is tired but has to work to catch up on some bills becuase the internship isn't payng. Dyonte shares that Tanya is supporting them.
- Scott edits all of the sketches after a sensitivity class and strips them of their culture.
- Callie and Jamie banter with each other at recess.
- Mariana: I started working here becuase I needed a break from the tech world but classic air sign, I can't stop to breathe, you know?
- Callie sends Mariana on a coffee run to parent trap her and the Fight Club with the help of Raj, but it doesn't go well.
- Shawn: A week ago he thought racism was funny, now we can't even mention anything cultural.
- Alice tries to convice them to talk to Scott about the sketches and they'll get HR involved to talk it over.
- Malika meets a new waitress at the restaurant, Angelica. They seem to hit it off and be a bit flirty.
- Kathleen argues that the prosecution's case is circumstantial.
- Katheleen: The mot important thing is not to promise the jury somethnig that you can't prove or that can be disproved. They'll remember that, and they'll hold it against you.
- Tommy cries during Kathleen's opening statement.
- Callie: What if you asked for the job? Mariana: I mean going from partner to employee is a big demotion. Callie: Maybe that's what you have to do to prove that you've changed, if you really want your friends back. Mariana; I do. Callie: Well, then, you might have to humble your self. And being a coder a BB is better than not being at BB at all, right?
- Callie advises Mariana to try out for the job and work as an employee.
- Malika spends all night after her shift correcting and fixing Dyonte's pitch and doesn't get around to doing the same for her own before the deadline, so she just submits what she has. She pulled an all-nighter.
- Jamie: Should we redirect? DA: No. Let her hang herself. Jamie: What does that mean? DA: It means it's always good to have a trick or two up your sleeve.
- Kathleen destroys all of the DA's witnesses.
- Scott: It just seems that no matter what I do I can't win. And I am so sick of this shit. OK. I'm sorry, oh, a 1000 pardons, if you want the lunatics to run the asylum I'm out. FYI, your fearless Alice is only in this program because she was banging the casting director and still is, right Ruby?
- THey try to talk to Scott, but he throws a fit, quits, and reveals that Alice and Ruby were involved. The others are upset about it and don't trust her.
- Dyonte gets the grant.
- The prosecution calls a witness, Christian. They make Jamie question him. Callie has to do the same. They're able to make the jury doubt some things until Christian says he watched the video of Tommy and Zach fighting that he filmed that night.
- It opens the door for the jury to see it. But the judge agrees to look it over first.
- Lindsay:I'm pretty sure that whatever is going on between you and Sumi just derailed our relationship, too.
- Sumi broke up with LIndsay.
- Ruby was asked to resign and the whole showcase is cancelled.
- Ruby: To be honest, I didn't like the person I had become at that job. I'm sorry I didn't have your back the whole time like I should've. I hope you can forgive me and I hope you can give me a second chance at our relationship.
- They watch the tape and it's damaging. The judge is inclined to let it in.
- Callie: Jamie, what the hell was that? Jamie: I didn't know about the video. Callie: Oh you didn't know? Because that's your go-to answer. Yo're on the team, Jamie, I find it hard to beieve that you were so in the dark.
- Callie: Considering your ethical fluidity, sounds like you landed in the right job.
- Callie reams Jamie out for the blindside in their case.
- Malika: I wish I had someone who supported me so I didn't have to work two jobs.
- Dyonte stops by to talk to Malika. he offers to support her needs more when they talk over the grant. He notices the chemistry she has with Angelica.
- Mariana applies for the job and they hire her but only as an employee.
- Mariana: I don't mind taking a demotional and a cut in pay if it means I can work with a proudct and people I can believe in.
