Magnum and Higgins arrive very late for the P.I. license renewal exam. The examiner gives them nine minutes to complete it. 

Thomas passes but a disbelieving Juliet fails the test. He's going to have to work without her until she gets her license back.

T.C. walks out of the VA hospital with the assistance of a crutch.

Rick brings Magnum to meet with Justin, one of his regulars who is imprisoned after being accused of murder.

Justin's buddy Adam was driving Justin home in Justin's car when they were involved in a collision. 

The other driver was an off-duty cop who died in the crash and Adam died a half-hour later.

When Justin woke up in the hospital, he discovered he had been charged with murder in both of their deaths. since it was his car and he'd been under the influence.

Even though he's innocent, the best deal he's looking at would send him away for eight years.

Justin remembers that a man with angel wings on his back pulled him and Adam out of the car.

They have only five hours to find this witness before Justin reaches the deadline for his plea deal.

Magnum wants to start with Adam's body to see if it could prove he was driving. But they learn little from the M.E. other than Adam had axel grease on his shirt.

Thomas suggests that the good samaritan may have been a mechanic.

They check out Angel's Auto Shop, which is closed in the middle of the day. They break in and find a dead man hanging inside.

Katsumoto identifies him as Angel Daniels, who was running a chopshop operation there. He had been nowhere near the accident site.

Magnum's new theory is that someone had interrogated Daniels looking for the same person they are.

Thomas calls Juliet just as she was about to restart her test, trying Jamie's patience.

Higgins' research into Daniels' messaging app points to a missing car thief named Will. They decide to track down his partner Kai.

T.C. makes the mistake of attempting to patch things with Mahina at her firehouse.

She isn't receptive after being shut out for six weeks. She declares their relationship over.

While a man distracts Thomas and Rick, Kai, a female car thief, steals the Ferrari and a car crash ensues.

Driving Rick's car, Magnum cuts her off. Kai gives up Will's likely hiding place, an auto graveyard.

Juliet gives a theory to Gordie that Will might have been a C.I. for the late cop.

Thomas and Rick corner a running Will.

Will confirms Justin was the passenger in the car. He also says the cop who died was going to kill him.

Will's escape from the trunk distracted the cop, contributing to the accident.

A state senator had hired the cop off the books to recover his stolen car. He kept the items inside, including a laptop, which is likely what the politician was seeking.

Will has already sold the laptop to a fence. He agrees to talk to the cops if Higgins can recover the laptop.

The senator was tied to a Saudi corporation and a car rented to Saudis was seen near Angel's shop. The same vehicle is now tailing Rick's car.

They're soon surrounded by three cars filled with gunmen.

Magnum's bluff gives them an advantage in the ensuing shootout.

With the senator's help, the Saudis were illegally buying up Hawaiian agricultural land.

Mahina comes to Island Hoppers and they talk but remain separated.

Juliet passes her P.I. exam on the third try.
