Loretta narrates.

She recounts the first play she saw and fell in love with the craft. She worked for the rest of her life to pursue that dream and was scouted by a New York director.

She learned she was pregnant and had to give the baby to a childless couple and set off for New York.

The years went by without Loretta getting her break-out moment. She kept track of the child she gave up and followed Dickie to Oliver's play through Ben's widespread coverage.

She writes Dickie a letter explaining all this to Dickie. She notices her book is missing.

She goes for sitzprobe, a theatre occurrence akin to practice. She tries to talk to Dickie but is called on stage before she can hand him the letter.

Mabel visits Oliver and Charles in the theatre, telling them that she thinks Dickie is the killer. Oliver doesn't object, but Charles wants the trio back.

News break that the stalker was not guilty and had been released. Detective Williams barges in and says she will interrogate the whole cast since the killer was part of the cast.

Maxine, the critic, is present.

Howard takes Mabel to an office where he says he heard someone shredding paper on opening night. He offers to help piece together the shredded pieces in exchange for being part of the podcast.

Charles shows Detective Williams the room she should use for interrogation but lurks around to hear the conversation. Detective Williams kicks him out after he starts humming his song.

Loretta confronts Oliver about taking the book from her apartment, but he apologizes. She learns that Dickie is a suspect for murder.

Loretta talks to Mabel and asks about her theory but tries to convince Mabel that Dickie could not have killed Ben.

She tries to point Mabel in other directions.

Everyone gathers to watch Charles perform his song, and he does it flawlessly.

While Detective Williams watches the performance, Oliver sneaks into her interrogation room and plants a GoPro.

Howard and Mabel come up empty while trying to piece the shredding together.

After seeing rat poison, Mabel has Howard attempt to piece the shredding back together.

After getting the interrogation footage, Charles, Mabel, and Oliver decide to make a podcast.

Donna and Loretta run into each other in the washroom and discuss the sacrifices mothers make.

Oliver gets positive feedback from Maxine.

Oliver admits that he is in love with Loretta.

As Loretta performs, Charles and Mabel get into her bag and read the letter she wrote. They realize that the book with Ben's clippings also had Dickie in the picture.

Cops arrive to arrest Dickie, and Loretta stops her performance and admits to having killed Ben. Detective Williams places her under arrest.

Shocked, Oliver suffers a heart attack.
