Pike voiceover.

Ruth comes to see him. He's hallucinating Strong Boy in the room at the same time. As she leaves, Strong Boy attacks him. Waking from the hallucination, it's Z-Wreck and Astrid in the room with him, trying to calm him down.

Z-Wreck informs him someone tried to kill Layton and everyone needs to meet with him now. Layton, Zarah, and Liana are hiding out in Wilford's quarters in the Big Alice engine. Pike sets up as a guard.

Ruth checks in on Roche. She wants him to get back to work to help find Layton's attacker. He refuses.

Sykes let Till know there are 2 bricks of ammonium nitrate missing. Till remembers the Tailies smuggling the same materials during one of the early rebellions.

Dr. Pelton checks on Layton, diagnoses a concussion, tells Zarah to make sure he doesn't go to sleep.

Layton thinks it's Wilford behind the attack. Zarah is sure it isn't.

Josie has a meal with Miles.

Till goes to Lights who used to build the fertilizer bombs for the Tail's revolution fights. She discovers the pages with the instructions for the bombs have been torn out of her "cookbook."

Pike gets to hold the baby, is disturbed that she's been named using the naming tree instead of the Tail tradition.

Till calls Layton to tell him about Lights's cookbook pages. He realizes the culprit is Pike and tells Till. She drops the phone to rush to the car.

Pike holds Liana until he can get to the door and then shove her at Layton and Zarah and runs.

Layton chases Pike down the train cars but is ambushed on a ladder where Pike pulls him down, causing him to hit his head again.

Pike walks past the perimeter guard, claiming to be on a diaper run.

In the mess car, Alex starts talking to Carly.

Till is in the Big Alice quarters with Layton and Zarah. Zarah wants Layton to make an announcement. Till has checkpoints set up to find Pike. Layton wants it kept quiet.

Audrey wants LJ to get her in to see Wilford. She pays LJ with Mr. Folger's spare glass eye. LJ pops it in her mouth.

Audrey tries to motivate Wilford to wrest back control of the train, but he's been weakened by his experience with the suspension drugs.

Ruth comes upon a checkpoint and is informed that the bomber is Pike.

Pike sneaks into the subtrain where he's built another bomb.

Layton finds the bomb recipe in Pike's mattress. Ruth comes in on him and Till searching the quarters.

Asha is hiding in the space with the bombs and confronts Pike.

Layton shows the Tailies the recipe. No one wants to believe it. Layton orders them to turn Pike in if he comes to them for help.

Pike questions Asha's story of New Eden.

Ruth finds them. She tries to get Pike to turn himself in to her. He talks his way past her, carrying his bombs.

Wilford proposes that he and Audrey get off the train together. She leaves him.

Carly and Alex discuss what life would've been like for them if The Freeze hadn't happened.

Ruth reports what happened with Pike. Josie and Miles come in with a plan. They want to use the Tailie method of settling disagreements, "Old Ivan's Way."

Alex brings Carly to see her father. Roche tells her he can't be out there with all his anger. Without Anne, he doesn't think he can keep it in check. Carly promises to support him but he doesn't want that. She tells him how much she needs him.

Layton makes an announcement, calling on Pike to join him in the Tail where they'll settle things Old Ivan's Way.

Pike arrives at the Tail. He hands the bomb to Ruth. She leaves.

Ruth joins Roche, Carly, and Till in the Roche quarters to wait out the Tailie dispute resolution.

Pike doesn't want resolution. He repeatedly calls for the knives because he wants to fight to the death. Layton owns the people whose lives were lost because of him. He admits to saving Pike from hanging for cannibalism but then using him to kill when his hands had to stay clean.

Layton wants Pike to be godfather to Liana.

Pike confronts Layton with what he learned from Asha about New Eden. He tells him if he wants the lie to stand, he must also call for the knives and fight him.

They fight. Layton gets Pike through the heart. Pike's last words to Layton are, "I hope you find it frozen."

Layton preps the body and is told to sit with it for the night to reflect. Winnie leaves her toy for Pike. Ruth says her goodbye.

The multiple traumas to Layton's head injury are taking a toll. He falls to the ground.
