Recap

As they head to the sonic showers, Tendi, Mariner, and Rutherford run into Jet who has been assigned to Beta Team. He and Mariner engage in a competition to see who can handle the higher sonic vibrations.

The Cerritos has been assigned to assist with the cataloging of a deceased Collector's collection. Freeman is stressed as she awaits the results of her command evaluation. She gives the job to the new Head of Security, Kayshon, a Tamarian.

Boimler is screaming in terror on the bridge of the Titan as they take on a Pakled ship in battle. They succeed in driving off the Pakleds.

The Beta Team joins Kayshon at the teleporter and they beam aboard the Collector's ship.

The Chairman greets them and warns them not to touch anything in the cases.

Riker's debriefing his bridge crew on his suspicions of the Pakled attacks. He believes they're targeting Veruvian ore. The plan is to embed a team on the next targetted planet.

On the Collector's ship, a holo-message starts playing, warning them that they've triggered the security protocols. The first defensive laser hits Kayshon and turns him into a puppet. The team and Chairman escape the gallery with the puppet Kayshon. The Chairman blames Tendi because she's Orion.

Mariner starts planning a dangerous way to disable the defenses but Jet points out there's a safer way to get out. Everyone votes for Jet's plan.

On the shuttle to the Veruvian ore mining planet, the team discusses how boring the Enterprise must've been to Boimler's shock.

Freeman is annoyed by the feedback from her evaluation that says she's a micromanager. She elects to NOT ask the away team for updates.

The away team contends with robotic arms and the gravitational suction of a matter compactor. The Chairman leaves them without helping.

In the next gallery, Mariner confronts the Chairman about not helping out. He drops Kahless's Helmet of Fornication which he stole, triggering the defenses. He backs up over a laser trigger and a pile of bones falls on him.

While they climb over the mountain of bones, Mariner and Jett argue about their approaches to command. In her anger, Mariner hits a hovering robot vacuum that triggers all the vacuums to view them as enemies. Jet directs them to start building a barricade while Mariner encourages them to attack the vacuums. Their arguing confuses Tendi and Rutherford.

On the mining planet, the Pakleds have taken over. The undercover team goes to plant a tracker on the Pakled shuttle but tip them off when they uncover a snack pile.

Safe momentarily behind a barricade, Jet and Mariner strike a truce when it turns out they both hate Ransom. They realize they've both made errors and they turn to Rutherford and Tendi for suggestions. They figure out a way to access the engineering conduits.

Boimler's away team is trapped and the Titan isn't able to beam them out. The rest of the team prepares to meet death but Boimler realizes they might be able to boost their signal enough to beam out.

Beta Team access the escape pods and Barnes alerts Freeman who freaks out on them and swears being hands-off is never going to be her way.

Boimler manages to boost the team's signals enough to save his teammates but his signal is initially lost on the transport. On a second attempt, they manage to beam him off the planet.

Riker is alerted to a Titan shuttle craft incoming. It's the real Boimler. The first one beamed out is a copy.

Riker commends the Boimlers for their work and ingenuity but informs them that one will have to return to the Cerritos as an ensign. The real Boimler volunteers, thinking the copy will also but he doesn't and the OG Boimler goes to pack his stuff.

As he leaves, the away team comes by to say goodbye, reassuring him that he's true Starfleet.

Kayshon is in sickbay being returned to non-puppet form.

In the lounge, Mariner and Jet make amends. When Boimler arrives, the team forgets all about Jet, but then put Boimler to work getting the drinks because he abandoned them.

Kayshon, now in his Tamarian form again, attempts to pick up at the bar but it fails.

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 2 Episode 2 Quotes

Mariner: Actually, usually Boimler leaves that one open for me. He has issues with communal nudity.
Jet: Well, I'm not him and he's not here.

Tendi: Red alerts from that worm hole kept me up half the night.
Mariner: Oh, I know. It's like, 'Are we crossing the event horizon or not?' Like, I don't care actually. I just want you to pick one.
