The Good Doctor Season 4 Episode 8 revolves around letting go.

When 14-year-old Daria enters the hospital, the team quickly discovers she has serious bone weaknesses as a result of her diet. She is a gymnast and spinal fusion surgery would kill her career, but the team thinks it's the only way to get her healthy. Meanwhile, her father develops a serious heart condition and his power struggle with Daria doesn't help.

Meanwhile, Shaun must meet Lea's parents, who are critical of all her dates. Shaun thinks the meeting went well, but Lea's parents tell her they don't think she's mature enough for a challenging relationship. Lea wants to dump her parents while Shaun wants to be patient with them. And Lea and Shaun's problems are compounded by the fact that Glassman disapproves of how fast the relationship has moved and worries about Shaun getting hurt.

And elsewhere, Lim balks when Claire presses her to get help for her PTSD. Lim's behavior reminds Claire of Claire's mother, but Lim denies that one thing has to do with the other and continually rebuffs Claire's attempts to help her.
