Caroline doesn't handle seeing Stefan well when he doesn't stay or say that he misses her. He only came back for revenge. It's also the reason she snaps on Elena. Caroline reminds Elena that it's not quite as easy for everyone else to forget as it is for her. Of course, Elena doesn't know about the compulsion but everyone else has been instructed not to bring up Damon.

Back in 1994, Damon and Bonnie fight before finally confirming that someone else is with them. That person is Kai and he serves as an initiative for Bonnie to get her magic working again. But it seems like there's more to the story than that.
