Recap

  • Starting in Elk Falls, Kansas, someone is running away in the woods from a creature; she hides in a barn and has a knife out and ready. Unfortunately, she's murdered.

  • Lata meditates but is soon interrupted by the others making noises.

  • John and Carlos bicker about John being too thorough about a case, and Mary breaks up the fight.

  • The hunter line rings, and before we know it, the gang is on the road. Mary tells them about Tracy, who hunted with her mom. She called about her hunter friend, Darla, who was found mutilated in her barn.

  • John is caught on the fact that Tracy retired from hunting, and Mary admits it made her realize she could possibly do the same thing.

  • The four meet up with Tracy and check out Darla in the barn. Lata figures that the claw marks are consistent with a werewolf attack, but she needs to be sure.

  • Carlos finds a claw but it doesn't belong to a werewolf.

  • Tracy and the gang join together for a hunter's funeral, and Darla's body is soon up in flames in an emotional scene.

  • John suggests what killed Darla could be one of those unicorn monsters, and they can use its essence to lure in the Akrida.

  • Lata and Carlos go off to do some research and find a monster expert, but Carlos is not feeling the vibes of the shop. Luckily, the expert looks a lot better than the shop does. Even Carlos is feeling some good vibes from Anton.

  • Mary catches Tracy up on her parents.

  • Anton tries to make conversation with Carlos, but he is as quiet as a mouse and as nervous as ever.

  • Tracy tells John and Mary about the soucouyant and how she hunted them during her last hunt. She thinks what killed Darla is out for revenge.

  • Suddenly, a monster comes through the door, and John and Mary fight it. John goes off on his own to fight it, and Mary cuts its arm off to free John. The soucouyant runs away.

  • Tracy tells the gang how Mac, the hunter who died in a cave-in with the soucouyant, never got a hunter's funeral, and his 10th anniversary is coming up.

  • John wants to go after the soucouyant, but Mary wants him to slow down.

  • Lata and Anton check on the soucouyant's arm and run experiments.

  • John works off his energy on a punching bag, and Mary tries to talk to him about it. What happened in the meadow at the psych ward is still on him. The two fight over how he's been dealing with it.

  • It's found out that a vengeful spirit possessed the soucouyant and went after the hunters. Tracy admits that the cave-in that killed Mac wasn't an accident. She and the rest of the team killed him.

  • Mac turned to dark magic and became more violent and aggressive. Tracy says they tried to help him, but he didn't listen. All the black magic caught up with him, and he snapped. They were afraid of what he was going to do. When Mac went into the cave to go after the soucouyant, they set off some bombs and buried him alive.

  • Mary realizes that John hasn't been back in a while, and John, meanwhile, is in the barn to check things out.

  • He's taken down by the soucouyant, and the spirit possesses John.

  • After the others rush in, Mac closes the barn doors and pushes Carlos off to the side. Mary tries to talk to John, but he also shoves her aside, intent on killing Tracy.

  • Mary fights John/Mac, and Tracy gets ready to shoot him. Mary pleads with her not to, and Lata stands in front of the gun. She tells him a story about her father going to war and how it affected him and her, how the anger kept growing.

  • Mac asks Tracy why she gave up on him, and Tracy admits she was scared. Tracy apologizes, and Lata tells him he can still break the cycle. Mac lets go of Mary and nearly stabs Lata. He leaves John and flies away. John's on the ground unconscious, but alive.
  • As they're getting ready to leave, Tracy tells Mary she's taking over the werewolf case that Darla was after and that there is an escape in this life, but it just takes time.

  • Carlos is sad over having to destroy the monster's arm after Anton touched it. To change the subject, the two talk about what she said about her father and how she helped Mac.

  • Lata subtly brings out a letter from Anton addressed to Carlos, and it's for a date.

  • John finally wakes up, and Mary tells him it's alright what happened, but John brings up their previous fight. He comes clean about his anger and problems. He doesn't want to end up like Mac.

  • John thanks Lata for jumping in front of the gun and asks how she deals with the anger. She tells him about mediation and focusing on the positives rather than the negatives. John joins Lata's meditation session to relax.

  • Mary and Carlos interrupt the meditation session and tell the two they know where the Akrida are.
