This Is Us Season 6 Episode 8 focused on Kevin in his final solo story.

At the pool, Kevin wants to dive off the diving board but Jack says he has to learn to swim first. Jack takes him into the pool and at first all is fine, but when Kevin is impatient to get to the diving board, Jack says he has to pass a swim test and swim to the wall. Kevin has no idea what he's doing and inhales a bunch of water, then runs off upset when Jack takes him out of the water. Rebecca goes after him.

Meanwhile, college age Kevin is drunk and goes to the now-closed and drained pool. When he was a kid he always wanted to touch the drain but doing it feels like nothing. He feels he's not good enough, unlike Kate and Randall who he thinks are made more of the right stuff than he is.

Finally, in the present, Kevin takes the twins to the cabin by himself to prove he can take care of them. Edie, Nicky, and Cassidy are there. Cassidy has hired a bunch of other vets to help her build the house according to Kevin's plans. Kevin is an ass about it but apologizes and everyone has a nice family night. However, in the middle of the night Kevin gets a call that Cassidy had a car accident and is in the hospital.
