TV Ratings Report: The Big Bang Theory Encores Lead Night

Even in encores, The Big Bang Theory is still a very strong competitor.

Starting off the night for CBS, were two episodes of the comedy hit, with both averaging 8.5 million total viewers and a 1.8 rating among 18-49. These numbers are up considerably from what Supergirl has been doing in the hour the past few weeks.

An encore of Supergirl managed 4.6 million total viewers and a 1.0 rating. An encore of Scorpion closed out the night for CBS, with 5 million viewers and a 0.8 rating.

And elsewhere around the dial:

  • On ABC, it was the finales of The Great Christmas Light Fight (5.9 million/1.3 rating) and The Great Holiday Baking Show (4.8 million/1.1). Both could be boasting inflated numbers due to some ABC affiliates not airing the shows.
  • On NBC, encores of Superstore (3.8 million/0.8 rating) and Telenovela (2.7 million/0.7 rating) led into Christmas (4.4 million/1.3 rating).
  • On Fox, encores of Gotham (1.6 million/0.5 rating) and Bones (1.9 million/0.4 rating) filled the night.
  • And on The CW, it was two hours of Penn and Teller (1.6 million/0.5 rating) encores.
