If we've learned nothing after the countless number of programming hours on television dedicated to the hunt of serial killers, we are absolutely fascinated by them.
Our first look at the upcoming series MINDHUNTER from Netflix is filled with quotable phrases indicating the 1979 FBI might get in a little over their heads in their hunt for the worst of the worst.
While the chit chat starts out from the familiar voice of Anna Torv (Fringe), it continues with words from Holt McCallanay (Sully).
He sounds like he's warning a man who might be the greenest and most excited of the bunch.
His attitude is going to bite him in the ass. He thinks it's his job electrocute them not commiserate with them.
These are the days before DNA and computer searches. what will it mean in a hunt for the most gruesome of killers?
And my favorite, if you want truffles, you have to get into the dirt with the pigs. That's Jonathan Groff (Looking), who appears to have a different way of thinking than the rest. Will it get him into trouble or set them all free?
Who the heck knows?
What I know for sure is the fleeting glances we are given at the actual production look thrilling, and it will be hard waiting until we get a fully formed trailer.
The filming takes place in and around Pittsburgh, so the atmosphere will be older and kind of scary in its on right, but it's also set in 1979, so the vintage aspect will be especially delicious.
MINDHUNTER features Jonathan Groff (Looking), Holt McCallanay (Sully), Anna Torv (Fringe) and Hannah Gross (Unless).
The series is directed by David Fincher (Gone Girl, The Social Network, Zodiac), Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna), Tobias Lindholm (A War, A Hijacking) and Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror, U Want Me 2 Kill Him?).
Fincher, Joshua Donen (Gone Girl, The Quick and the Dead) Charlize Theron (Girlboss, Hatfields & McCoys) and Cean Chaffin (Gone Girl, Fight Club) are Executive Producers.
With names like that attached, is there any way in the world this won't knock our socks off? I didn't think so.
MINDHUNTER will premiere globally on Netflix in October. We'll share more news as we get it!
