Pure Season 1: An Exclusive Look Ahead at New WGN America Series!

Or it's entirely possible Breaking Amish was the reality show that flipped your lid. 

Pure a battle of wills. As creator and executive producer, Michael Amo put it, it's pacifist vs. criminal, faith vs. nihilism, good vs. evil. 

Noah Funk and his wife, Anna, find themselves in a lot of trouble when Noah accepts a position as pastor in the Mennonite community of Edentaylor.

It's not quite the faith-based dream job he probably expected, as he's forced into a world of sin and expected to work side-by-side with the Mennonite Mob.

Yes, whether it is still in business, the Mennonite Mob was the subject of an article titled "The Wages of Sin" and explained how the group helped the Mexican Cartel shuttle drugs through the US and Canada.

Amo took his idea for Pure from bits of that article, part of his youth growing up in a Mennonite colony just outside of the collapsing Russian empire, brought it into the modern world and added his own flair for the dramatic to set Noah and Anna on a horrendous adventure to save their family.

Anna will do anything to save her family, even if it means supporting her god-fearing husband while he works with the police and becomes part of the cocaine machine to stay alive and complete a secret mission.

Noah will also have the help of his brother, once a ne'er do well who was finally riding straight again, only to get caught up with Noah in the Mob business.

All of this is courtesy of Eli Voss, and once God-loving man who lost it all with an aim to ruin every Mennonite community in his sites.

Whether you have heard of Pure before or not, you most likely have heard of WGN America. Once home to critically acclaimed series such as Manhattan, Salem, and The Outsiders, the network now procures dramatic achievements for your benefit.
