Mr. Washington,
I am not sure that you are doing yourself any service by meeting with GLSEN. Your meeting and agreeing indicates an acceptence and further condoning of the behavior and lifestyle put forth by this group and its members.
Tolerance and acceptence are two separate positions. We can be tolerent in our silence, we can only be acceptent by overt action of complicity, condonemnt and promotion.
If it is your position to promote the acceptence of the behavior that these groups put forth, then continue on with the public overtures that are being stated in the press (that you will oblige).
It is amazing to me that, as a black man, it is consistently impressed that because you can speak well, make a simple presentation of dignity with pride, and do not present yourself as sterotype of pop fashion and trends, that you are automatically deemed as some category of not "normal". Dignified black men should be the role mode. Our generation of children need many black men o

Isaiah is a wonderful actor who made a mistake and I'm so tired of the rest of the world acting like they've never made one. Furthermore we've all made derogatory comments about others, especially in the work place. I am so over this issue. The media is really running this in the mud, but they've seemed to forgotten about the Kramer situation. It's no surprise that people are crucifying the black man for one incident in a life of stellar behavior. From one Houstonian to another: Keep your head up Isaiah and May God bless you. P.S. To the idiots who believe that black people should be wiped off the planet or should have never exited in the first place. Go read a real history book and see just how far civilization would be without us and if there were no us there would be no you, since it has already been genetically proven that the basis for the human genome has the Africanaziod gene. Ha Ha Ha
Love to everyone

Nigger scumbag. Superstitious Nigger with a name like "Isaiah". I wish this world would be rid of that accursed race once and for all. What a waste of simian DNA they are.
No Nigger should ever mention racism ever again. Oh, and they're racist pigs, too.

Isaiah is a stellar actor who is really underrated. I can only imagine the pressure he is under on the set of that show. It's certainly seems unlike his character to say something so harsh. I saw him at the African Market place this past Fall at Dorsey High School in Los Angeles as humble as I have ever seen a celebrity. He took time to speak with fans (who were very respectful of him), take photos with them and in lieu of autographs, he passed out pictures. He has a wonderful family and I think the man is blessed and is deserving of the same forgiveness that all of you haters gave Kramer who called Black people monkeys, slaves & said we would have pitchforks up our a$$ and used the -N- word so many times, we lost count. Where was Ellen and GLAAD when that happened. If you are going to criticize Isaiah, then certainly you morons should criticize that looney Kramer dude! As for the idiot from UF - you are a moron and problem offspring of that Kramer dude.

It never ceases to amaze me at how moved people are over some forms of discrimination and how passive they are about others. For years, African Americans have lived with being referred to by all kinds of negative terminology, and much of society remains unmoved. Kramer uses derogatory words in a comedy routine and even those that were offended probably still continue to watch those reruns of Seinfield that air nightly on various channels. Then Ellen has the nerve to say people ought not use hurtful words. Did anybody (including Ellen) think about that when African Americans, Hispanics and other ethnic groups are referred to negatively? Do you think that when you hear a co-worker say a hurtful comment about someone of another race? The truth is, people tend to be more sensitive to these issues when they have a direct impact on them. It shouldn't be that way, but it is. I am disgusted that those people that are so moved because of these comments couldn't care less about some of t

Isaih you are ruining.ruined a good thing..... you are a great actor who plays the role well but needs to keep quiet! Many, many fans of the show are disgusted by your remarks. Think, think, think.... the network is, I am sure, reviewing all of this, and frankly you are probably out of a job. Maybe not now... but soon. They should not tolerate that. Nobody supports you! Love the cast with or without you.... too bad for you!

I was just watching the Ellen Degeneress Show and T.R. Knight was on the show. I was not aware of what had happend on the set. I am totally disgusted and mortified at the actions of Isaiah Washington. I would have never beleived Isaiah Washington would have such bad behavior. Isaiah Washington should be ashamed of himself because I sure am. It is my personal opinion that Isaiah Washington should be terminated from the show!!!!!! I was a fan of Isaiah's until i learned how childish and ignorant he is.

I assume by the Gator that the UF is University of Florida. I am really surprised to hear that university students would even think about the color of a person's skin on a television show. I am not African American, but I am so proud of Shonda Rhimes and her bravery in casting people based on the person right for the role rather than the color of someone's skin. That is one of the best things about the show, to me. I'll bet there was not a single thing in the character description when people auditioned that related to race. If you look at Burke, for example, he is suppose to be proud, passionate, respected, and an excellent surgeon. He is a bit arrogant, as are most great surgeons, but he is still kind and caring towards his patients. The fact that he is Black is completely beside the point. I am a huge fan of Isaiah Washington because of what he brings to the role of Preston Burke. Writers can write a scene, but it is the nuances that come from the actor that make the scene

I don't like Isiah Washington very much. Anyway, I go to UF and I know students who agree w/ ABC's initial hesitation in having "too many people of color" b/c it's almost like an African-targeted show. Some of the Caucasian students are mildly ruffled by the similarity of the creator being black and many main characters and extras being black.

Another great posting Insider. I am very happy to read about such a great guy like Isaiah. It isn't easy to find a lot of information about him because he isn't one of the "A-listers" but he is a fascinating personality. Reading about the choices he has made and the obvious joy he has in his life is really positive and life-affirming. Thank you for the article.
