American Idol Review: "Elvis Night"

at .

Every week on American Idol, the pressure gets ratcheted up.

But finalists were faced with a number of reasons to be extra nervous last night, foremost among them:

  • With Adam Lambert as guest mentor, even more viewers than usual would be tuning in.
  • With the Elvis Presley catalog at their disposal, the Idols would be choosing from a bunch of classic singles, made famous by one of the most iconic artists in history. Always a challenge.
  • With Michael Lynche saved from elimination last week, two finalists will be going home tonight.
Doing Elvis

Did Michael Lynche make the judges regret saving him from elimination?

Who shook off this pressure and performed to the best of his/her ability last night? We've rundown all nine singers in our weekly recap.

Who should be going home tonight?

We have it narroed down to three: Aaron Kelly, Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia.

It would be hard to argue with any of these choices, but Kelly has the most potential. As the judges have constantly reminded us, Garcia peaked way back during the early Hollywood rounds; while we've felt badly for Katie because the panel continues to give her confusing advice and critiques.

For some reason, Simon and company can't get past her age.

But I simply can't get past the fact that her voice isn't deserving of a spot in the top 10. Stevens seems awfully nice and sweet and has a future in the music business. Just not by winning American Idol. It's time to say goodbye.

Who would you vote out? Who was your favorite performer of the night?
