Gossip Girl Round Table: "Belles Du Jour"

at . Comments

Welcome back to TV Fanatic's Gossip Girl Round Table, where our illustrious panel reflects on the events of the fourth season premiere, "Belles Du Jour."

Below, Gossip Guy and Mister Meester offer their take on Monday's quotes, twists, and burning questions. Our fearless leader, DANdy, will return next week.

1. What was your favorite Gossip Girl quote from last night?

Gossip Guy: We all know this goes against everything I stand for, but I have to give it to V for all her witty Georgina lines, but the best one was "you can't trust anything that comes out of her mouth, let alone anywhere else." Hehe, she was referring to her Geor-gina there.

Mister Meester: Any exchange between Dan and Vanessa, or this gem from Serena: "I wouldn't worry about Chuck ... any normal summer he's drunk on some island where polygamy is legal. Given everything that happened it makes sense he's gone rogue."

2. Was this the best season premiere of the four?

Gossip Guy: While the Paris opening was way better than season three, I still have to give it up to season two in the Hamptons. Those were the days.

Mister Meester: Aside from the pilot episode that got us hooked three years ago, I'd say yes. The music, the montages, the city (both of them) ... Blair in her element and the rebirth (in a sense) of Chick ... The return of Georgina, the introduction of Juliet and some seriously scandalous new stories ... I think it's safe to say Gossip Girl is back, baby!

3. Is the baby Dan's, and what the heck is Georgina up to?

Gossip Guy: Definitely not. And the day I figure out what Georgina is up to, I'll have figured out the world. I'll let you guys all know the meaning of life then too.

Mister Meester: No way Milo Dan's son, but a couple of things don't add up here. 1. Why would an ambivalent Dan be going along with this? 2. If Georgina's not after money - it's Dan! - what's her motivation then? Is she on the run from a Belorussian mobster whose son Milo really is and looking for a safe haven in Brooklyn? I'm kidding ... mostly.

Oh Yeah, There's V

Vanessa earned some rare props from Gossip Guy this week.

4. What will happen when Chuck and Blair reunite?

Gossip Guy: I just don't feel like Hair is going to be a power couple until Chuck becomes himself again. You see what I did there? I'm so witty with couple names. Right Ballison?

Mister Meester: Because I've seen the episode, and am under threat of the CW not to reveal too much, I'll leave you with this: The scene is awesome, plain and simple. Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester are magic together. Blair tries to tell Chuck not to run from who he is, and while their future remains up in the air, her words clearly resonate with him.

5. Is Juliet Gossip Girl?!

Gossip Guy: This show has thrown us Gossip Girl red herrings before, but at least this time it's a girl. All the creepy clippings on the board? The blast being sent from the website? Everything's adding up except for the fact she doesn't look or sound like Kristen Bell. Those commercials for You Again featuring Bell during the episode didn't help sell Juliet either.

Mister Meester: I don't think so, but the two many be in cahoots. That scene were they revealed her at the computer was pretty cool, though. Talk about an intriguing lead-in to next week! As we will see next week (Gossip Girl spoiler alert), she's got a plan that involves trying to help Nate get Serena back. Although Juliet's motives and Nate's are quite different.

What do you think? Sound off in the comments!

This episode was pretty good, I love the Paris location. I liked the little tift between Serena and Blair though Blair was acting like a little drama queen that's what she is and she's trying to deal with finding herself and the whole Chuck thing so her behaviour is plausable. Loved the flashbacks at the end of Chuck reminded me how much I missed his scarf = P Things I didn't like (couldn't stand!!!) was stupid Rufus!!! I usually don't dislike him but when he gets all holier then thou grrr!!! He is so judgmental I kind of feel sorry for Dan it must be in the genes or something. But anyway come on Rufus!!! What excuse does your daughter have for being such an idiot?? She made so many bad decisions and yet Rufus expects everyone to forgive her, but when it comes to Chuck (who's money probably pays for Rufus lifestyle!) everyone including Lilly should have no contact and hate him! It's not like Jenny has an excuse, unlike most of the other characters she doesn't have real baggage. Both her parents are there for her and love her, and she has extended family (a brother who no matter what she does forgives her= Eric) I mean all she whinges about is how she was happier being poor after years of chasing after the high life! Does she realise how lucky she has it not having to worry about money, all she has to worry about is peer pressure, boohoo!!! On the other hand Chuck's father never showed him love and made him feel worthless, he thought he killed his mother but no it turned out she just abandoned him and only came back to manipulate him. And his uncle is a big fat jerk intent on ruining his life. And when he sleeps with a girl who honestly is old enough to known better (it's not like he pretended it was anything more then it was or seduced her) Rufus acts like he's a rapist or something!!! Okay I understand as her Dad why he would be upset with Chuck but he doesn't really have a right to indicate to Lilly that she shouldn't look for him or care about what happens to him! I'm glad Lilly ignored him and kept looking for Chuck, yay for bringing back some semblance of the family unit!!! = ) Okay beside that beef I was pretty happy with this ep and I definetly think that Milo (weird name) is not Dan's baby. I bet Lilly and Rufus will probably adopt him (big foreshadowing with the whole aren't you glad that isn't us thing). Maybe Rufus will teach Milo to hate Chuck too and glorify Jenny. lol jks. Can't wait for the next ep!! And the return of Chuck Bass = D

I still dont get why all the blame is put on Chuck when Jenny gave her consent. It's not as if he raped her, he tried to during the Pilot but in S3 finale's case it was consensual!

The russian "prince" Georgina left with last season was VANJA!!! Doesn't anybody remember that? Blair staged it and Dorota was in that restaurant as well! for the rest I agree, definitely not Dan's baby...
and about Eva... hmm, as I read she is a prostitute (Blair will find out/ Chuck didn't know) and will leave in episode 4, so no need to worry Chair-fans!
I still don't know If I like Juliet or not, she might be a social climbing crab as Jenny and therefore wants to use poor Nathaniel ;-)

what is Ballison?
I can't catch.... joj

Believe it or not, GG is thoroughly popular in my country. No CW does not air it, but everyone follows the happenings of Chair with pure love. Also Round table is fantastic. You can't watch an episode and then not tune in for these hysterical Q&As.
1. best qoute was Blair's desperate ramble of how Serena can have skin bearing dresses and waiters but she wants Dior and Chanel and the prince and "not want to love in your shadow for the next three years." just because I couldve sworn there were actual tears in her voice when she said the last bit.
2. Is this as good as the pilot? God no. Is it the next best premier since then? Totally!
3. Since it's Georgina I literally can't say.
4. When Chair will meet again there will be rockets and fireworks and a solemn goodbye that comes way too soon. And as Mister Meester said (seen the episode already? I'm so jealous!) it will be magic. What else?
5. As the producers were kind (Why do they keep doing this? They ruin everything!) to let us know Juliet is NOT GG. Pity. Now that shes just a random stalker, she has me bored. All in all, it was a pretty awesome episode. Eva and Chuck just pain me but whatever carves the way for the Chair reuninan is forgivable. Can't wait for next week!

Welcome back UESiders!!! I've waited four months for this brand new episode and it was awesome. The locale was great and the fashions were out of this world. I've missed Serena, Blair and the gang (even Vanessa). Let me tell that I love Georgina and all of her hijinks. This season will be awesome. Also, Juliet (Katie Cassidy) is starting off to be a great addition even if she has a surprise back history. Let's start this season off by saying NO MORE NYU!!! IT'S ALL ABOUT COLUMBIA, BABY!!!

lol @Nina. so true.

1. Blair: my fairy godmother is my credit card, or Serena's quote about chuck going rouge.
2. I loved season two premier and I loved season 4 too. I think I still would give it to season 2 but i would say that season 4 premier was really catchy and got hyperventilating :)))
3. I don't think that Dan is the father and i think that Georgina either is here for money or she just wanted her kid to be in a loving family with lots of money. Its hard to believe about Georgina but still mother instincts do exist:)))
4. I think that S will ask B to talk to Chuck about his "double identity" and will tell her that she is the only one to stop him from running. Blair will go and will say that he can not run from who he is. I have a feeling that chuck blames his love for Blair and Blair herself for what happened to him. After all it was the ring for B that got him shot. So I think he wants to run from those feelings and he wants to forget this love that got him shot. But that is not possible hopefully. I love Chuck and Blair and hope they will reunite soon, though i doubt writers will let that happen till the end of the season but who knows:(((
5. I don't think gossip girl is Juliet. I don't think that the identity of Gossip Girl will ever be revealed.

Gossip Guy-V, seriously? I feel betrayed.

Gossip Girl Season 4 Episode 1 Quotes

Serena: So what does it say about Chuck?
Blair: I couldn't be less interested. Serena gives her a look. No new posts. He's been MIA since he left town this spring.
Serena: What does it say about us?
Blair: "Ooh la la! Paris is burning and Serena and Blair lit the match." Of course your flame is hotter than mine. Everyone knows that the only guy who's been in my pants all summer is the tailor at Pierre Balmain.
Serena: And whose fault is that? B, just as many guys have flirted with you. I just happen to have a thing for French waiters.
Blair: And bartenders. And museum docents. Anyone on a Vespa or bicycle. Or wearing Zadig & Voltaire.

Serena: Blair what are you doing? We said we wouldn't check Gossip Girl all summer.
Blair: Summer's almost over.
