Grey's Anatomy Review: "Shock to the System"

at .

Since last week’s Grey’s Anatomy premiere, Meredith had tried to get Dr. Perkins to clear her for surgery and didn’t get it until the closing moments of “Shock to the System.”

It was pretty amusing to watch Meredith turning on the waterworks for the Doc in the beginning of this weeks episode. She even wore the proper mascara to leave streaks!

In all seriousness, it took Meredith to finally admit to Derek that she had a miscarriage for her to realize that there are things in this life that are totally out of her control.

She can’t fix everything and everyone and sometimes you just have to go with it.

Awww Cute

Meredith and Derek embrace after she finally tells him.

Cristina definitely had the biggest meltdown scene of the week. I knew from the moment Teddy and Owen were pushing the Chief to clear her, it was a bad idea. Thankfully, Cristina had her person there and Meredith was able to help her out.

Cristina did bring up a very valid point. Her life has always been surgery. Some people use to call her a robot because she showed no emotion. Now, she can’t even bring herself to go back into a surgical room - what in the world do you think will happen to her now?

Do you think Cristina is on the verge of a major meltdown?

I loved the fact that Owen would not take no for an answer. Some men would leave a woman high and dry if she gave back the wedding band, but Owen knew that Cristina and their love was worth fighting for.

This type of love isn’t something that happens all the time. And just like the shows theme, it happens like lightening maybe once in a lifetime if you’re lucky. This just proves to me that these to are MFEO!!!

Meredith got Alex to realize that life doesn’t revolve around him.

Yes, he has been dealt some pretty crappy cards in his life - but who hasn’t? He claimed to love and care about Lexie and the one time she needed him, he couldn’t be there for her because “he’s dealt with enough crazy in his life.”

Alex’s actions proves to me that these to are definitely not made for each other.

Once scene I really wish worked out the way that it should have was Sloan letting Lexie know that he follows her around not because he’s worried that she would have another meltdown, but because he just wants to be with her and make her happy. Ugh! I am dying to see these two get back together. Hopefully Karev (or anyone else for that matter) won’t come in the way ... again!

Callie and Arizona haven’t made big splashes this week, but it looks like they are still in the honeymoon phase and there’s nothing wrong with that. Yeah, maybe Callie isn’t too happy with the change in paint, but after what Sloan went through, it looks like she realizes what she’s got is pretty great.

I was happy to see it just being Alex and Bailey in the OR when she took out his bullet. I felt like it was a healing moment for both of them that was well needed. No one needs a walking reminder of that horrible and tragic event that they all went through.

All in all I am happy where this season is going and can’t wait to see how everyone else heals over time. What did you think of last night’s episode? Comment away!

Until next week, we leave you with a few of our favorite Grey's Anatomy quotes:

Owen: I'm not going anywhere Cristina. I'm not going anywhere without you. | permalink
Meredith: Lightning doesn't often strike twice. It's a once in a lifetime thing. Even if it feels like the shock is coming over and over again. Eventually the pain will go away, the shock will wear off. And you start to heal yourself. To recover from something you never saw coming. But, sometimes the odds are in your favor. If you're in just the right place at just the right time you can take a helluva hit. And still have a shot at surviving. | permalink
Meredith: I was pregnant that day. I was pregnant and I lost it.
Derek: I, ahh ... You didn't say anything. I could've helped you.
Meredith: If you want to help me, your driving is something you can control. Just do that. Just do that. | permalink
Meredith: Cristina! Cristina!
Cristina: I can't be in here. I can't. I can't feel anything.
Meredith: I know. I know. Come with me.
Cristina: No, no. I can't move. I can't move my legs. I can't feel anything. | permalink
Meredith: I thought you were in surgery.
Alex: It got pulled though. Is Lexie okay?
Meredith: Why don't you ask her yourself.
Alex: She doesn't need me talking to her.
Meredith: Well, you're the one who ended it.
Alex: It ended the way it always ends. I get close to a chick and the chick goes crazy. Rebecca, then Izzie, my mom. The lightening rod's less crap.
Meredith: You're not that special. Lexie's not crazy. Sure a crazy thing happened to her, but her reaction was pretty normal and Izzie had brain cancer. Rebecca, she was crazy, but that was the facial reconstruction drama. You're not a lightening rod Alex, you're just a guy that's been through a lot of crap. (Looks at Alex's bullet) Wish I had a scalpel.
Alex: Junkie. | permalink
Richard: (thinking to himself) A hundred and twenty miles an hour. | permalink
Richard: (about Lexie) Make sure she's alright.
Mark: I'm trying to. | permalink
Cristina: (regarding Lexie) Fifty says she's back in the cuckoo's nest by lunch. | permalink
Meredith: (the patient has three boys fighting over her) Popular girl. | permalink
Arizona: What do you think?
Callie: I think I don't want to live in an Easter basket.
Arizona: I know you really want to live in the bat cave, but meet me half way. | permalink
Meredith: You changed?
Derek: I showered twice. Thanks to you. | permalink
April: House fire? Explosion?
Callie: Act of God. Lightening strike. | permalink
Meredith: Go hug yourself! | permalink
Meredith: They say lightning never strikes twice, but that is a myth. It doesn't happen often, lightening usually gets it right the first time. When you're hit with 30,000 amps of electricity you feel it. It can make you forget who you are. It can burn you, blind you, stop your heart. And cause massive internal injuries. But, for something that happens in only a millisecond, it can change your life forever. | permalink
Bailey: It must hurt, does it hurt?
Alex: Nope.
Bailey: Does it hurt when I do this?
Alex: Ow! Damn!
Bailey: It is not fine. It is foreign and it has no business being in your body. Get it out Karev. Or I will see that you do not operate until you are operated on. | permalink
