He might not have his own television network, but Mark Harmon does now possess something even Oprah Winfrey cannot lay claim to: the title of Most Popular TV star.

The NCIS actor took the top spot in a new Harris Poll, rising from last year's ranking of number-eight. In the process, Harmon overtook Oprah, who fell into a tie for second with Hugh Laurie (House).

2. Oprah Winfrey and Hugh Laurie (Tie)
3. Conan O’Brien
4. Jon Stewart and Charlie Sheen (Tie)
5. Ellen DeGeneres
6. Bill O’Reilly
7. David Letterman
8. Steve Carell

Jay Leno and Glenn Beck, who were included in the top 10 last year, dropped off the list.
