One of the most violent episodes! Chin Ho will marry Dr. Malia Weston. Lori Weston will attend the wedding and find out that Dr. Weston is her long lost cousin! Thus, through the marriage Lori, Chin Ho and Kono will be family. They are trying desparately to make a romantic match between Steve and Lori. They cannot do that with Kono because she is Asian and despite the proliferation of Asian Female/White Male marriages in America, that is still a no-no for a significant minority of racist white audience, especially down south. I dont like it but that is the way it is. I still hope that they give Kono more time in the show and that they are not trying to phase all Asian-Americans out of the show with the Chin Ho wedding. When they whitewash the show, I stop watching. The writers may want to cater to a racist audience but there are good examples to follow such as the Mentalist, Unforgettable and a bunch of other shows on CBS.

What is going to happen in the following episodes is evident

  2. Casey

Agree! I love the part where Lori hugged Steve.

On that note, I would like to say that unlike the fanbase I´m all for the fifth member, I think the fab 4 are awesome but for a elite task force it´s too small. But they gatheredan awesome cast they need awesome new member and to stop trying to make the new girl the female somebody, why can´t the girl be herself?
Because someone said in another comment that she was broght to be simple Lori Weston, no she wasn´t, when they described the new girl they said she was a "female McGarret".
    Well, clearly, she´s not.
I´ve seen the actress in A walk to Remember, and I liked her, 5-0 changed my mind.

This episode was awesome, the actors were fantastic, including Lori, Jenna I will miss, but I'm bitter about Kono, it should have been present to the end, I am very disappointed. And when I think she is not even aware that her cousin is getting married ... no comment

  5. Sue

I agree, you need to bring back Catherine, she and Steve were great together

Poor Jim, taking a beating for not knowing the "true story" about Malia & Chin & who broke up with who lol. Guess you better get the DVD's and watch the epi's you missed last season, so you won't get cranked at again eh?
Anyway, good show, really glad I DVR'd it cause I didn't like seeing Wo Fat beating on Steve. Poor sad Jenna. Yay Jimmy Buffett/Joe White and Seal Team 9! Funny Margarita crack by Danny. Hey was the Seal that Steve saved from the skydiving death the one on the helicopter?
And to add to the chorus, should have been Kono blowing the bridge & laughing on the way home with the gang. Lori still does nothing, that in my mind, Kono could/should/would be doing with the team.
If you gotta get Steve a girlfriend, get him one like Catherine, Malia and Danny's museum curator who are in/out of the background stories.

  7. LB

Well, awesome_kosar if Lori was a reason for you to watch the show in the first place, you need professional help (as Danny likes to say).
This was a very good episode, but season 1 was 200% better than this one.

  8. Madison

I'm starting to think the reviewer has no idea what he's talking about. First off Chin broke up with Malia to protect her. He didn't want his trouble rubbing off on her. That's kind of a big detail to miss.
If anybody needs to ask for forgiveness it's Chin.

Second, I can't stand Lorri!!!!! I'm sure the actress is a nice person but good god she can't act. Her face is robotic. She has 2 facial expressions, blank stare and smile. And why the hell she got more screen time this episode than Kono is beyond me. Kono has been there from the beginning. If anybody should have been excluded from the actual rescue it should have been Lorri. I'm not sure why the writers expect us to like her. She brings nothing new to the show. And that hug she gave Steve was horrible to watch!!! Why ruin a perfectly good scene with a gag worthy moment? Hopefully they get rid of her ASAP!!!!!

Apart from the Lori issue, I really loved this episode, because it was a great installment with morale.
Five 'O is a family of its own. It was all about loyalty, trust and a commitment to each other. It was great to see how they stood up for Steve, even facing possible charges of espionage in North Korea of all places!!!

Okay, I guess I am one of the few in the 'I love Lori club'.
I think Lori is actually a perfect fit for Steve. I don't think that what Steve needs is a female version of himself. I remember there was this former love interest who pretty much was that. As to her being robotic, she is just a person who is driven by her mind, not her instincts, that's what makes her different from Steve. Lori is actually one of the reasons why I decided to tune in this season. She challenges the team and Steve and I think she'll be good for Steve.

  11. Hooligan

Your incorrect statements about Chin and Malia proves to me that you are not a die hard fan of five o. And now it all makes sense why you like Lori. Anyone who is a die hard fan would NEVER be on some BS "I love Lori fan club".

  12. Mike

It was a great episode with a lot of action that moved really fast. However, without trying to sound too negative, I must say that the new lead character Lori is getting increasingly difficult to watch. I'm sure she is a very nice person, but it's just so hard for me to understand how the producers made her the lead actor. She just seems to have a very robotic style of acting. The hug in the last scene was pathetic. After reading what I wrote here, it does sound a bit negative. I am sorry about that but it's just my opinion...

  13. supermom23

It's a little disturbing that the first two paragraphs of your article are a rant about something that you are incorrect about. Go back and watch the older shows, please, before you go off on something. She didn't leave Chin; he left her to protect her.

  14. Hf0 fan

first of all, Malia never doubted Chin. He broke up with her to protect her.
She forgave him not the other way around. I think you are watching a different show than I am because that hug RUINED the entire episode for me. LG can't act and she didn't even look believable hugging Steve. WHEN the F*** is she going to leave? I am sick of this! NO KONO in the last scene!??? That's not good at all

Agree. Great episode. The suspense even made me forget the Korean DMZ is the most fortified and militarized area on the planet and that a gnat couldn't cross from South to North and vice versa without being spotted. I still think that Khigh Dheigh from the old 5-0 is the best Wo Fat but the new guy is growing on me. Can't wait to see Steve and Wo Fat mano y mano.

A monumental show last nite - look forward to this show every week -
Alex is fantastic and truly "makes" the show.... And for all of us who
find him not only one of the "best" actors out there, we need the writers
to add a love interest for this sexy guy -- Lori is not the one, nor do I
believe is Kono -- Writers: take heed as to how it all worked for the
show, the fans, everyone, when Catherine was with Steve.... Even if you
don't want to bring her back, get somebody like her - beautiful, sexy,
the whole nine yards - she "fit" with the beautiful, sexy, Alex perfectly!
And someone like that who isn't part of the team, permits bringing in
what the fans are all clamoring for with Alex - and doesn't have to be
part of every show - C'mon, find the RIGHT person for Steve!

Great Episode! I think the writing is coming back and they are starting to get back to what they had with season 1.

Jimmy Buffet was superb. Played very well. I thought it was hilarious when they took off, he shoved in an 8 track and played music. I like the little references they make, such as "I prefer a marguerita". It has nothing to do with the episode, but its like an inside joke. I hope they keep doing those.

Wofat is still at large, I'm with you Jim, I would prefer to see Steve personally blow his head off, but I'm glad he is still here, that means Joe White is still around as long as Wofat is, and I like the White character.

As for Lori, still not a fan. I would have preferred more Kono, but at least they kept her in the helicopter, and I did like the blowing up of the bridge. I almost started to tolerate until she leaps out of the helicopter to give Steve a hug. It was something other then the robot look. I'm not sure if the writers are trying to make us like

  19. LB

You all know why people don´t like Lori, it´s because the writers are so invested in making us love her, that they want to put it like she is this amazing person with no flaws and put her in every scene, IT´s ANNOYING!!!!
It took me 9 episodes to comment because I was trying to give the girl a chance. But what do we really now about her that could make us embrace her... she used to work in Homeland Security and knows about almost every thing and have dealt with every situation before and she likes to dress up for costume parties, that´s all.
If only they were a little more subttle about her, she could have been accepted.
Looks like to me they want to built a couple because Castle is in the same timeslot and has this sexuan tension going on between the main characthers. Just a thought, the actors in Castle have CHEMISTRY for a couple, that´s why it works.

  20. stevelovekono

It is not the hatred "s2juicee" to say that somebody plays badly, it is just a point of view and it is not the hatred to say that she has no chemistry with anybody.

It is not the fault to Lorie, they are the scriptwriters either this role is not made for her. We are sorry for the fans of lorie but she is not endowed here maybe for another show but not for five o

I'm fed up, we have the impression that we are incensed against her but when somebody is not good it is not to be resentful to say it

I quite like Lori and I don't understand the hate. I think it makes sense that they introduced a fifth member who is a female. However, I do believe they need more Kono/Lori relationship building.

  22. John

I've just about had enough of this show, sick of Lori. I agree mad me want to vomit when I saw her hug Steve please make her go away. I hope Chin told Kono he was getting married before he told everyone else if not shame on him, by the way was Kono even in this ep if she was I must blinked and missed her.

  23. Amy

I am with Inge on this one...this did not make me a member of the "I Love Lori" club. In fact, it had the complete exact opposite effect. I admit that I didn't dislike the character as much as some others seem to and would just fast forward through her scenes when Lori was on, but last night was wrong. They should have had Lori and Kono switch places...Kono belonged in that helicopter at the end and the fact that Lori was there instead actually bothered me. And just before the hug, I said to myself, "Oh God, she's going to hug him in the middle of a rescue mission." and rolled my eyes. And then it happened! There is absolutely no chemistry there and Alex O'Loughlin could have chemistry with a tree! I can't wait for her batch of episodes to be over and I hope the writer's realize what a huge mistake this character has been and just get rid of her. If not, I may have to tune out.

Good. The case could have been cut more.

  25. Tamara

Awesome episode! was a rollercoaster ride! lor's of action

I understand why Jenna did what she did at her end she wanted to make it up with Steve, Steve was shocked when he hear her say she would change him for her fiancee glad she was killed of!Steve stop trusting everyone please!

Where the hell! was Kono she was not even in the endscene it's getting ridiculous that all her screentime go's to Ugh! Lori Writers!!!!STOP! STOP! STOP! doing this it's for 9 episode now!!

And let Lori, don't ever hug Steve again. Don't ever touch him again. or I gonna vormit!
