Hawaii Five-0 Review: Welcome to Margaritaville

by at . Comments

"Ki'ilua:Deceiver.

From Chin Ho proposing to the guys from Seal Team 9 tagging along to help rescue Steve, this episode of Hawaii Five-0 turned out to be quite a rollercoaster ride, and I mean that in the best way possible.

Okay, Chin Ho fans, who’s happy that he's marrying the woman who broke up with him when he was suspected of stealing from the police department? It's something we can all consider: how much are you willing to forgive the person you love most?

It’s easy for us as spectators to pass judgment on fictional characters, but I want you to think for a moment: what if the situation was real? Could you forgive the person you truly love for believing the worst about you? It’s a tough call. Thankfully, most of us will never need to make.

Helicopter Escape

Now we move on the sad part. I hope you and Josh find each other on the other side, Jenna. Rest in peace, knowing that Steve will take your murder out on Wo Fat, a tiny painful bit at a time.

Steve never believed the worse about you. He saw who you really were and was willing to forgive your mistake, even if it was big enough to land him as a prisoner in Korea.

I know some TV Fanatics were hoping that a different female was killed by Wo Fat. Personally, I enjoyed watching Lori shoot the RPG and blow up the bridge. From all the camera angles they showed it from, I’m guessing they got one try at that stunt. It was enough, it was awesome.

It was good to see Commander Gutches (David Keith) again. I really enjoyed the tie-in to the earlier episode, with Seal Team 9 owing Steve for a skydive catch of one of their team members. Wait! We also had the double whammy of Joe White (Terry O’ Quinn) working together with Gutches throughout the episode. I think my man crush may have just expanded a little.

Did anyone else catch Danny’s Margarita reference to Jimmy Buffett? Sadly, I couldn’t figure out how to get it in the quotes section for this episode, but it was great enough that I had to mention it. Speaking of Buffett, for the second time in as many weeks, we have been treated to some decent screen time with our guest start. How awesome was this iconic singer as the grizzled war vet helicopter pilot? I loved him!

Was anyone else actually glad when Wo Fat got away? He is such a great nemesis, I was dreading him getting killed or captured and the story ending abruptly, so I was relieved to see him trudging through the jungle.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, I'm looking forward to the day Steve makes him pay for his father’s and Jenna Kaye’s death. But I want Steve to be do it personally not to have it be random gun fire in the jungle.

Finally, I have to mention my on going crush: Lori. The hug she gave Steve clearly shows her loyalties don't lie with the Governor any more, if they ever did. So, come on now. Tell me some new members joined the I Love Lori Club this week. Anyone?

Graces husband has a lot of business interests here in Vancouver so it may be difficult for him to move to Hawaii.

@Plain jane...I hope so too!! I am not sure how long I can take her. I am not sure i have hated a character as much as her. I hope these actors and actresses appreciate having a hit show and dont mess it up by wanting time away from it. Then we get stuck with lori characters!

Avatar

@amazingalex, glad I could help. There have been rumors that Grace wanted less screen time so she could spend more time with her husband, but as far as I know this is unsubstantiated. She DID sign a contract, so as far as I know, she's in for the duration. I wish she could persude her husband to come to Hawaii.... There have been rumors about Scott also wanting more time off, so he could work on other projects, but he also signed a contract. I sure hope they are phasing Lori out. Soon.

Your probably right about Grace not leaving the show, but Lori just makes it very hard for me to watch. I only get to watch a couple of shows a week with school and work and I hate when my enjoyment is taken away, I really hope Lori will be gone soon. I wanted to be Grace Park when I was 10 so I get overly emotional sometimes when I feel she is being under used, but all I can do is keep watching and hope for the best. Thank you for letting me vent.

Make sure when you google it you google december 5th. When I did it the old poll came up and I voted on that one by mistake...but then I found the new one. I guess I am not too bright!

Avatar

@Zia...thanks for telling us. I voted. There is a huge competition between fans of these two shows. Most seem to like them both but dvr H50. Castle usually has more viewers overall but H50 has more viewers in the 18-49 range of viewers. That seems to be a very important # to the networks. H50 has won its timeslot most weeks as well. Ratings confuse me!!

This was a good episode that could have been better without Lori. It doesnt matter how little her part is, as long as she is there the show is lacking. Running to hug Steve was super annoying and made me dislike her that much more. She has no place on this show and the writers need to wise up and move on from a characther that is seriously hurting a series that used to be one of my favorties before she came along. Besides Lori being there, I liked this eposide. Bringing along seal team 9 was pretty cool.

If anyone is interested, spoiler tv is running a poll, you need to google,
SPOILER TV POLL, look for, "which of these shows will you be watching". Castle fans are stacking the deck, so vote for H50. Of course the ratings will tell the real story.

@jschoi..no I dont have personal knowledge of it but it would make no sense that she would be written out. It is very rare to have a successful show on TV these days, I just do not think the writers would be that stupid to mess with it. What made people love this show are the original four and their amazing chemistry. Unless she wants out which I also would find shocking I think she will be just fine. I love Grace Park, she really is amazing. Like Zia said, she has been getting her screentime back and lori is on less then she was. I am hoping they are phasing lori out and kono back on the forefront. If they dont they will be making a huge mistake. Men who watch this show loooooove Kono!!

Avatar

@jschoi...I felt that the Kono character was being pushed aside earlier in the season in favor of Lori, but in the last 4-5 episodes, Grace Park is getting more screen time as are Danny and Chin. I think Grace Park is safe, she is great as Kono. We love her in America as well. If they ever did that, (unless Grace herself wanted off the show), there would be a big fan outcry. I don't think they are that stupid. They are giving Chin and Kono more time, Lori a little less, and Steve and Danny are being shown as partners. They may hear us, but won't ever admit it.
