.... I respect the opinion of those who want Blair and Chuck together but I'm a sucker for the outsider and the rich girl falling in love. And the writers have wisely taken their time with this one and I feel have planned all along to bring them together. When I saw Dan and Blair split screened watching movies together, I was hooked. They find each other on Valentine's Day as if that's just the way their navigational system works. I love it. Keep it coming. I don't know if they will be endgame but this is entertaining.

I believe that this show has a real relationship here. Dair I mean. Not Chair. It has been a build up and if they take it down next episode its their loss. But for you Chair fans out there...think about one thing. If you were in Blair's position, who would you choose? The caring, best friend whom you also have feelings for or the great love who hasn't always been that great. And don't spout any of the bullshit about Dan and the video or Chuck and his freaking love for Blair. Because even in this messed up world they have created on the CW, they should at least have one redeeming couple. I also want to think Lola and Nate are going somewhere too. That seems like a good relationship that they should expand on.

Chuck hasn't changed at all. He is having sex with another woman, using it to compensate for the loss of Blair. Which ain't healthy either. Then he sabotages Dan. I don't pity him, because he is using his own for good. You don't have to good, to have a relationship with Blair. You are good entirely.
I was disappointed, since he was making such a great start, wanting to change and such. I just don't get why he has to do all those things to prove his love. You don't prove love by hurting others. You prove that you love that person, and the people around them.

NEWS FLASH: PENN'S HAIR IS LONG BECAUSE HE'S FILMING A MOVIE ABOUT JEFF BUCKLEY. And it's fantastic the way the writers have used this for Blair insults. A few years ago I stopped watching the show for quite a while. It was about the time the writers were linking Dan romantically with Vanessa and then there was something about a threesome. I turned the channel and didn't watch for a while. I came back to the show in season 4 because of Leighton Meester and Penn Badgley. I also appreciate the ridiculous fun of this show. As someone said, it is a farce and pure escapism.

@GGFail No one knew about Louis' motivation. Blair chose to go through with her loveless marriage after cheating on/humiliating Louis, no one forced/influenced her, she chose to make her stupid choices.
Chuck wasn't selfless when he slept with Alessandra and had Dan's manuscript plagiarized after he supposedly changed.
Chuck wanted Blair to run away with him, he wanted to buy her out of her loveless marriage with Louis, he didn't honor her decision. The accident happened when they were in the limo together before the accident.
What's control is Chuck selling Blair out for a hotel or almost punching her in a drunken stupor and almost forcing himself last season when Blair told him to stop.

But just logically speaking, by being here and commenting so may times you're actually increasing the page views and comments count on a site that's about the show. His motivation isn't caring for *her*, it's only to ingratiate himself by riding to her rescue to make himself important. Was he going to take her to the Hamptons away from Louis when he knew full well the reason WHY Louis did what he did? Yes. Did he act as a true friend and tell her Louis' motivation so that she could be reassured of Louis? NO! Because that would be at odds with his quest to be Hero. Sending that video in to Gossip Girl? So selfish. In that instance, Chuck was the selfless one because when Blair shook her head "no" during the ceremony, he didn't speak. He listened to Blair and honored her decision. Dan, in another show of egotistical superiority, overrode Blair's decision and sent the video. That's not love, that's control. He has to prove that he's right and she's wrong. Lather rinse repeat for however long this insanity continues. He's in love with an idealized vision of Blair, and she's mistaking a sense of obligation for love.

For all the Dair shippers saying that a relationship with Dan is "healthy" and he "cares". Puh-leeze. That horndog cares only for himself. He has the same rose-colored glasses on when viewing Blair as he did with Serena. She's a distant shiny pretty thing that he places on a pedestal while at the same time constantly criticizing her behavior and her world. He may sneer at the UES, but he wants it. He kept picking at S until they broke up. It would be the same with B.

The audience demographics for GG shows an ages 12-18 skew. So I get why the high school boyfriend might seem to be the ONLY boyfriend possible. But, even in the fictitious world of GG, the characters have had to age both chronologically as well as emotionally. And one can & does outgrow high school relationships. Doesn't mean you cease to like that old love, you just like him/her in a different way, because now you are in love with someone else.

Watching re-runs multiple times has convinced me how unbalanced the writing on GG can be - veering from Awesome to Abhorable. I think the Dair pairing emerged as something unexpected and very beautiful. I don't think they actually planned on it - so Dair might be the least “manufactured” relationship on GG. Dair emerged as something natural & wholesome & thereafter the writers probably just went with the flow...but they had so not seen it coming, and they had this Chair fan base to appease, that the writing kept getting more contrived. It is to Dair's credit that they still SHONE. I think the writers should really trust their instincts & for once give Dair an - author-backed - chance.

The first 2 seasons had great OMG storylines that were fun: financial scandals, real-estate drama, art, fashion (I miss Jenny because since her departure there is no fashion story at all... such a missed opportunity for a show set in Manhattan), and the lifestyle / manners conflicts between the UES and Dumbo.
