Grey's Anatomy Review: A Heartbroken Hospital

by at . Comments

Valentine’s Day came early to Seattle Grace and it wasn’t too kind, as Grey’s Anatomy returned from alternate reality with "All You Need Is Love." With this many doctors and their constant drama, it was bound to get ugly.

Many things went down, so let’s get to discussing. What couples made it through the Hallmark Holiday and who crashed and burned?

Lexie the Babysitter

Case Time. V-Day brought out the love and the patients felt the wrath. A boyfriend died before popping the question and two 10-year olds brought the cuteness. Leave it to Grey’s to hit you with sadness one minute and make you smile the next minute.

Time to make this clear. Alex Karev is without a doubt the best peds doctor ever! When he read that letter to the peanut butter girl, my heart skipped a little bit. I know I’m not alone in that. Time to rally and let Shondaland know that this man needs a love interest and quick.

Happy Hearts. Looks like the McCouple is back in all their perfect glory and it is awesome. Case in point:

Mer Der Lovin'

Elsewhere, Callie pulled a super sweet move by taking Arizona to the trailer. These two either get too much screen time or not enough. This issue makes you forget how enjoyable it is to watch a functioning couple sometimes.

Meanwhile, Ben knows his girl and made the perfect plans for Mandi Miranda. So cute it almost makes you hate them. Almost. Not really, of course.

Making A Move. Little Grey, it is about time! Lexie, accompanied by good luck charm Zola, made her way over to Mark’s apartment. The play date idea was genius and a talk was overdue with these two. Too bad Jackson was already there. It’s looking like the love triangle lives on. Avery needs a new girl; someone with eyes as beautiful as his so Mark and Lexie can work it out.

Best Friends Enemies. Teddy brought the heat down on Owen, letting him know exactly where he stands with her. Besides the fact that she is a new widow grieving the loss of her husband, Altman has earned the right to snap out.

There is a love/relationship with Owen. He was able to bring the human side back out of Cristina but he has now taken it out of Teddy. Granted, he hid the fact that her husband was dead so she could perform a surgery. Kim Raver gave an incredible performance when she lost Henry and she has kept that up. She is finally bringing some life to a character that needed it.

Callie and Arizona Image

I'm Moving Out.” Owen dropped the biggest bombshell with his plan to move out. Since Zola’s birthday party, these two have been walking on eggshells. Of course the blow out led them to this place and it is time to go their separate ways... at least for a little while. Cristina needs to get back to being her bad ass self and Owen needs to figure out what he really wants. Should these two work things out?

Small Incisions:

  • Richard and Adele = Heartbreaking. Only Shonda can make you have anxiety over the deterioration of a semi-regular cast member.
  • Best conversation goes to Webber and Lexie for their exchange about hitting the town. Hands down the best quote of the hour.
  • Where Do Broken Hearts Go? Found the answer for you, Whitney, and it looks like it’s the boiler room at SGH.
After an entertaining, although different, alternate reality episode, Grey’s hit the nail on the head with a solid hour of television here. While Cupid was off making moves, us viewers were left with questions.
Zola's Folks

Are Cristina and Owen splitting up? Will Lexie come clean to Mark about her feelings? With Jackson being behind on his studying, will he be the one who doesn’t make it through? Is the road about to get rough for Richard and Adele?

With that said, hit the comments section and let us know what you thought about the hour. Don’t forget to check back for the GA Round Table later in the week and have a Happy Valentine’s Day, Grey’s fans!

I started watching Grey's during breastfeeding hours of 1am and beyond..such a fan. I believe April needs a boyfriend and would also like to see some sparks between Jackson and Christina-how cool is that! Mark is flat and predictable...

Everyone who has observed the short shrift given to Callie and Arizona needs to remember the uniqueness of having a lesbian couple on network tv. That said it probably doesn't hurt to lobby the writers for equal time for our favorite couple. So maybe the next time we find our girls on another exotic, candle lit Arabian nights set the scene won't just fade out back to the hospital. Geez writers, how long are you gonna just tease us this way? You could at least have shown them lounging in their lingerie with Callie feeding Arizona a chocolate covered strawberry...or maybe some grapes? (Must we write these scenes for you??) Those who voice their dislike of Calzona can pretty much be written off as homo-haters. And those who want a Calzona spin-off with 60 minutes of nothing but making out need to check their medication. Ain't gonna happen. The path to equality is a long one. Meanwhile we can celebrate one step at a time.

That Christina can't seem to keep a man happy. They need to spin off Calzona and have them make out for 60 minutes every week.

This was a great and entertaining episode. It's been awhile. I was so happy with all the mark lexie moments. They have put this couple through far too much. It's time to get them together, and to focus on putting another couple through crap...Like Christina and Owen for example. Terrible terrible couple from the beginning. They don't communicate, they don't respect each other. This marriage was doomed to fail from the start. Maybe it's time for teddy and Owen to rebound with one another. Hate Sex? Maybe try out the whole Cristina and Jackson thing again...there was never any closure there... And maybe kill off April...oh sorry... nvm And...SHONDA PLEASE LET KATHERINE HEIGL RETURN! Alex Izzie Drama would be the perfect way to end, and to begin next season. There's so much potential story between them.. And... Callie and Arizona and Mark and Baby Sophie... .Worst storyline. Arizona made Callie so Boring. and the baby made it even worse.

Completely agree with the person below me. Pain or no pain that hateful and vicious attack Teddy unleashed on Owen hurt me to my soul and angered me. He's not the villain they are trying to make him be and it floors me that hes criticized for his outburst but very few people find what Teddy did and said appalling.

I think Teddy has a right to be angry, but the whole Iraq and "I wish you were dead" thing is too much! Especially Iraq. How can someone say something like that? I always liked Teddy but now I cannot look at her anymore. I understand that she's grieving but what she said was so wrong. I'm afraid as long as she doesn't apologize I cannot like her at all. I used to ... It's interesting how everyone thinks that it's ok for Teddy to say things like that but when Owen "explodes" everyone seems to hate him. And he did NOT wish someone to be dead. He's grieving too! He's not angry because Christina doesn't want children. He's grieving! His unborn child died! Cut him some slack here!

The 'where do broken hearts go' line in this review is now very depressing...

Loved that episode, was nice to spend more time with the patients (lately i've alsways felt like we didn't know much about them) : teratoma girl and the cutest kids ever !!!
Nice as well to have a break from drama in some love relationships : calzona and merder, although I was really disappointed to see such a short scene between callie and arizona.
Brilliant performances from Sandra Oh and Kim Raver, and nice to give Teddy more opportunities to express feelings and personality.
I also enjoyed a lot the rock paper scissors scene, so nice to see fun interaction between Mark and Arizona. This season rocks !
Finally, just wondering about Adele, didn't she get the virus in Dereks trial ? Will be there some feedback about that cause in her case, it seems it didn't help at all.

Most hilarious this epi was the "rock, paper, scissors" scene. It wouldve been awesome if Alex wouldve been on Arizona side.
As a Calzona fan, I was very disappointed in their scenes. Shonda made it seem as though we were getting a very romantic scene. Yes it was cute but no fire. Also was upset that I barely saw Callie. I LOVE HER!
Glad that Christina put her ego aside for Owen. I like them as a couple. I also miss Owen's red hair.

I can understand where Teddy's anger coming from... poor girl, she finally happy with the man she loves and now she lost him again. And I don't think bringing Andrew back will be much help. She needs to leave, I can't see her character progressing any further (not without disturbing my CrOwen love, which is the LAST thing I want)... So I wouldn't mind if she leaves. The vent scene is so powerful..! Cristina touching Owen's chest,, she misses her husband so much. And I'm soo glad that it's finally Cristina who took the jump to save their relationship... April needs to get laid, fast! Please Shonda, just give her some love... I love that girl, she always make me smile :)
