The Vampire Diaries Season Finale Scoop: Who are The Departed?

by at . Comments

The Vampire Diaries season 3 finale will be titled "The Departed." This much we know, thanks to an Ian Somerhalder Tweet.

But now E! News has shed a little more light on the May 10 installment, reporting in its latest Spoiler Chat that the title refers to all those who Elena has lost over the years, starting with her parents and continuing through Aunt Jenna and, possibly, Alaric.

Expect to witness a flashback to her family's car accident on the finale.

Elena's guilt, of course, has been building up throughout season three, as we saw her beg for Bonnie's forgiveness on last Thursday's "Break on Through." Will she finally reach a boiling point on the finale? And what will that entail if so?

Ponder the possibilities and visit E! for more spoilers on shows such as Grimm and 90210.

@Jenna Let me make one thing clear, I respect your opinions about the show even if they're negative, but it gets old and repetitive seeing you guys complain on the same sort of thing on every single vampire diaries post, But I can say the same thing about other fans who post the same things about how much they love Delena, Stelena, Damon & klaus. And that's all they talk about and fangirl away! Lol So will stop being repetitive when they stop being repetitive.

Her family's car accident should of been the main focus of season ONE.Its a cheap cop out on the shows part the rehash old shit.

Elena HAD to adapt to the changes in her life and toughen up.
Yes, something that needed to happen since the first season. Something, which we never have seen to actually HAPPEN. You can't expect to see her crying in every episode.
No, but I expect her to show accurate emotions to the absurdity of situations that have been in the show. She has been kidnapped constantly, stalked and harassed by vampires, found out there's someone wearing her face, found out she is not real, found out she will die, got her family killed AGAIN through her stupidity, blah blah blahdee blah...where's reactions and character development to that? NOWHERE. She comes off as a sociopath right now. :)

And she definitely mourned Jenna.
Yes, sure, by going to see a movie and never ever ever mentioning her again. Its just because there were timeskips after a lot of significant deaths that we didn't get to see her wallow over several days/episodes.
So you agree that she did not mourn her. Good. You see, your head-canon does NOT matter. The show did NOT develop her, did not show that, did not show us why we should care about her weak mary sue personality of carebearism.

Did you somehow skip episode where Elena talks to Katherine in the cave? She definitely feels guilt for being the doppelganger and endangering her friends.
SHE SAYS THAT. do we see it? No. THere have been many statements on how "strong" how "caring" she is by characters, bu thats not character development. Thats empty words.
I think the first few episodes showed her pain/ reluctance to let love back in her life again. weak character with no defining personality.
so she got over the parents deaths she caused in FEW DAYS? Yeah, good luck believing that. We never saw her mourn or actually GET OVER IT, or feel guilt.

this is t.v.it's not real.
Just because it has supernatural elements, it does not excuse the show for bad writing, inconsistencies and plot holes.

Elena is annoying... and yes you all are correct: too late for guilt... she should have showed guilt the episode after Jenna died or start of season3...
(and this is due to the SL and not Nina's acting) her character just comes across as selfish... with the brothers, with her friends and even with her family.

@kimberly, deal with it, there's always people who are going to hate what goes on TVD if you dont like it cover your ears or poke your eyes out, you cant stop us even if you write us a really long rant that no one will give a fuck about.

@AmyGirl,
Did you somehow skip episode where Elena talks to Katherine in the cave? She definitely feels guilt for being the doppelganger and endangering her friends. Regarding her parents, she obviously felt sad. However, this was an event that occured BEFORE the series started. I think the first few episodes showed her pain/ reluctance to let love back in her life again. weak character with no defining personality. And she definitely mourned Jenna. Its just because there were timeskips after a lot of significant deaths that we didn't get to see her wallow over several days/episodes. As some other people have commented, Elena HAD to adapt to the changes in her life and toughen up. You can't expect to see her crying in every episode. Then you'd probably think she's too whiny. She certainly has characteristics that are annoying, like her indecisiveness (choosing between the brothers) but that doesn't mean she doesn't feel guilty.

Vampire Diaries Quotes

You want a love that consumes you. You want passion and adventure, and even a little danger... I want you to get everything you're looking for. But for right now, I want you to forget that this happened. Can't have people knowing I'm in town yet. Goodnight, Elena.

Damon

Damon: You know what they are? Children. Like lighting a candle's going to make everything OK, or even saying a prayer. Or pretending Elena's not going to end up just like the rest of us murdering vampires. Stupid, delusional, exasperating little children. And I know what you're going to say: 'It makes them feel better, Damon.' So what? For how long? A minute, a day? What difference does it make? Because in the end, when you lose somebody, every candle, every prayer is not going to make up for the fact that the only thing you have left is hole in your life where that somebody that you cared about used to be. And a rock with a birthday carved into it that I'm pretty sure is wrong. So thanks, friend. Thanks for leaving me here to babysit. Because I should be long gone by now. I didn't get the girl, remember? I'm just stuck here fighting my brother and taking care of the kids. You owe me big.
Alaric: I miss you too, buddy.
