David McCallum Signs Two-Year Extension With NCIS

at . Comments

David McCallum will return to NCIS for a 10th season next fall, and an 11th the year after that if the series continues on CBS. The original cast member agreed to a new, two-year contract this week.

McCallum is one of four original cast members whose contracts are up at the end of this season, along with Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette and Sean Murray (who joined during the first season).

During the quartet’s previous renegotiation two years ago, McCallum again was the first to reach a new agreement at the end of April. Talks with the other three stretched past the upfronts into June.

There is indication of that scenario happening again this year, with Weatherly, Perrette and Murray all in various stages of new negotiations. All ultimately re-signed then, of course, and are expected to again.

The rest of the cast, including leading man and executive producer Mark Harmon, is already under contract through the conclusion of NCIS Season 10, which was recently announced by CBS.

The Scottish-born McCallum, 78, has been a TV institution for decades, most notably in The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Sapphire & Steel, and now our beloved Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard on NCIS.

Totally love NCIS!! Ducky is fantastic, and i am sooo relieved that he will be back. After the finale, i rushed to the computer to check the news. Hoping that the whole cast will be back, it is the best show ever!!!

I was a teenager when Man from U.N.C.L.E. was on the television and loved David McCallum then and think he's still rather good-looking still :) I told my husband at the end of the show tonight that I didn't think anyone would be killed off so here's hoping all return next season. Love this show!!

Yeah!!! Ducky alive!!! Thank you sooooo much

I am so glad I remember Duckie in the man from U.N.C.L.E he just adds the right touch to the show I think they all are great together

Yeah, I just came here as well for the same reason Judi. On a plus side, it seems definite he's alive. On the down side, I just spoiled all the suspense and surprise for myself :(

Thank the Good Lord above for Duckie's return. After seeing tonights show, I ran straight for the computer to look him up. I love David and have since seeing him first on UNCLE. He is wonderful on NCIS! This show is one of the best shows on TV. I hope it stays around for many more years and with our Duckie.

Yes, Illya Kuryakin was my first tv crush too, in 6th grade. And I recognized him immediately as Ducky the first time I watched NCIS! He's still adorable, it's always a treat when Ducky enters the scene. :) Glad to hear he's signed on, and glad to hear there's another season coming!

Hello, I just want to say that Illya Kuryakin was my first ever tv crush. I was in second grade. Ever since have always loved David McCallum. So happy he's signed on! C'mon now we need the rest of the NCIS team! Best drama on TV. Keep up the great work!

Glad to see him return to the fold. I hope his health allows him to continue to act for as long as he chooses to do so.

As a young girl, I had an incredible crush on David McCallum and never missed an episode of the Man from U.N.C.L.E. He was dreamy them and is still dreamy now. Mr. McCallum looks 20 years younger than his stated age. It is a pleasure to watch him. Of course, Mark Harmen is pretty nice to watch, too.
The show would not be the same without any one of the current cast. Their chemistry is what really makes the show. Please continue the great writing and interplay between characters, I look foward to it each week.

NCIS Quotes

Tony: One other question, I know you're an expert in English history. And I was just wondering, have you ever heard of Archibald Drummond, the 17th Earl of Trent?
Ducky: The Earl of Trent. No, I can't say I have. Why?
Tony: I was just wondering. Thanks.

McGee: All right. Well you should probably know that Abby and I used to date?
Bishop: Ew. Like, each other?
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: Wait - isn't that a violation of rule 12, never date a....
McGee: It was a long time ago. After we'd broken up, one night I went to her lab. Found a scribbled piece paper; a list. Potential boyfriends had to fulfill certain conditions by a pre-arranged date or else, goodbye.
Bishop: Such as.
McGee: Things started off relatively normal: opening the door for her, flowers, putting the seat down. Then around number 8, it gets uh...
Bishop: What?
McGee: Does she know you have these?
Bishop: Does she know you have these?
McGee: Yeah she wasn't happy when she found out.
Bishop: These are all very specific.
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: These ideas apply to you?
McGee: No those rules weren't in place when we were together. At least I don't think so.
Bishop: What's with the two month cutoff? Abby's sabotaging herself. I've seen stuff like this before. We have to talk to her.
