    Oops, part of my post got eaten!

    ...worst scene was when they went to the morgue to see Chin. They have her enter the room on Steve's shoulder like she owns the place. Danny literally has to step around her to get to the door to go in and talk to Chin. She'd never been there before, doesn't know anybody, is a total outsider to what is going on. She'd naturally be hanging back staying out of the way. Really poor staging of that scene.

    @Joe
    There is a believable way to resolve the Doris McG storyline. I just doubt they have the guts or scriptwriting ability to do it. She needs to be bad. Really bad. She was never worried about anybody but herself. And when the hubby finally got too close, she helped set up his getting whacked by Wo Fat. And, eventually, she needs to make the same decision about Steve, forcing him to take her down for good. That'd be a powerful story: To avenge his dad Steve doesn't just have to get Wo Fat; he needs to take down his Mom, as well. If they want to make Wo Fat Steve's brother or biological dad, that could fit in, as well.

    But the way they handled her in the premiere was beyond awkward. It's not just her having not seen Steve in 20 years; she'd never met him as an adult. Yet, they tried to set it up like she was an instant insider. Wanting to be called mom immediately, the banter with Danny in the car 2 minutes after meeting him, getting chummy with the girlfriend. And the worst sc

    with Doris McG in hiding for 20 years to protect herself while her familly was in danger and people were dying all over the place at the hands of WoFat while he searched for her I have a question. Since her death was faked, what was Hiro and Yoshi Noshimoris role in her faked death?

    @Joe

    I agree with everything you have said the best thing Peter and Co can do is to wrap up this Shellbourne/Wo-Fat storyline ASAP before they loose more fans

    @Mrs. Cleaver

    I did the same I also checked out "Revolution" some H5O have said that some stunts where over the top in the season premiere all I can say DON"T watch "Revolution" suchs a unbelievable show.

  5. Lanika

    Maybe Wo Fat and McGarrett are half brothers!! Just kidding, (I hope).

    With the low ratings, I checked out "Revolution" the new show that H5O is up against. What a dog that show is (totally unbelievable), shouldn't be long before H50 picks back up. Especially if as Joe (below) says, they lose the Doris/Shelburne storyline for a good long while.Happy to see previews with Ed Asner for next time.
    Bring back crime of the week!!

  7. Joe

    I was worried that they'd written themselves into a corner with the Shelburne storyline. Sadly, that's exactly what has happened. It's impossible to view Steve's mom with any sympathy based on the story they set up. There was no way to EVER clue Steve's dad in on that she really wasn't dead? His best buddy Joe and her let him vainly chase her imaginary killer for 20 years? (Only to have him STILL get murdered by Wo Fat!?) And then even after Wo Fat had nearly killed Steve on numerous occasions it still takes months for her and Joe to finally reveal the big secret? (If staying hidden was really just to protect her family, doesn't that excuse disappear when the family starts getting killed?) With friends and family like these, you don't need enemies.

    Also, anyone else notice the Danno is usually the least involved in any sort of action scene?

    Besides Wo Fat wanting to find who killed his father, what else is there? And why do we care? Maybe he is really Steve's father? That could be fun. And how did he find Kono in the ocean? they left that one hanging. It's Hawaii and no bikinis. Wassup with that?

    Katherine has to go.

    After reading further, I think the accusations that Malia was killed off because she's Asian is just plain stupid. If that was the case, why even orchestrate a wedding between her and Chin Ho in the first place? Maybe she was killed off to add more depth to Chin Ho's character. How many episodes did Rachel appear in last season? Very little after having a bigger role in season one. Oh, and she's white, last I checked. When it comes to secondary characters, you're not going to see them often, and sometimes, the producers kill them off. Of the six main characters, three of them are Asian. Doesn't sound like "white-washing" to me.

    Sorry, but I am done with this show after this episode. The Wo Fat escape was completely ridiculous and was pretty much the last straw for me. I kept waiting to hear Jim Carey going, "It's the Claw!!!". Then they have HPD looking worse than the Keystone Cops - always 2 steps behind any criminal. Why can't keep anybody in jail more than a couple of hours? Next, the bad guys are always racking up a huge HPD body count. Is there anybody left in the force? Last, that car accident shootout that reminded me of one of my computer games. It's Monday Night Football for me from now on.

    Continued: The Catherine character is nice, but I'm not too concerned about any romance on HFO. Speaking of that, where is all this "chemistry" between Kono and Adam that I keep hearing about? I sure didn't see it the other night, and quite frankly, I don't even know where or when this romance started. It seems kind of forced.

    I always thought Daniel Dae Kim was/is the best actor on the show--certainly the best interrogator--and he proved it on Monday by taking a meaty storyline and running with it. Maybe I just misinterpreted the ending of season 2, but I kind of got the feeling that Malia wasn't in danger of being fatally injured. Maybe a bit of revisionist history over the summer?

    At any rate, I can't wait to get back in the routine of watching them catch the weekly "bad guy of the week." Although, I am a bit concerned about the ratings. Regardless of what you think of the show, it deserves to be on tv. Maybe a new night?

    I really liked the season opener. I'm a huge fan of Hawaii Five O past and present, so I'll watch, no matter what. The problem with television today is people expect storylines to be wrapped up in weeks, and will not tolerate things such as a "Wo Fat" character being a main plot line for years. Hawaii Five O wouldn't be what it is without the carrot of McGarrett someday finally catching Wo Fat. Anyone who wants him gone just doesn't know about the history of the show and what the plot line means to the legacy of it. You don't bring Wo Fat back every episode, and I think the writers have been careful not to bludgeon us with it too much. It's something to be re-introduced every so often.

    I think the problem with the show last season was that they brought in the Lori character and made her a part of the core crew, and there simply isn't any room for five members of "the team." They brought in the Max character, and Joe White, and they worked because they're doing their own thing and

    Loved Christine Lahti; sp? Think she's great actress and scenes with AOL worked well. Like Kath on the show too. Ratings totally tanked--I was shocked at 1.8 in key demo. I am concerned that the show won't last the season.

    For the nay-sayers...don't like...watch something else. I loved the episode... I also like James Bond movies...Everything about this episode was exciting, emotional, fun-filled and just enjoyable to watch.

    I was really saddened that Malia died, Chin Ho had so little time to be happy, and Daniel Dae Kim is such a wonderful actor, he should have gotten more angst-free drama. I totally agree with Jodee on the rest of it, I love the chemistry between Kono and Adam, and while I was anxious to see Mama McG, I have to reserve judgment of her until we find out exactly how dirty she is, how far in league with Wo Fat, whom I'm beginning to be bored by, he always gets away and always kills everyone he wants dead. He's just too slippery and too black hat to be real. Though I am not a Kono fan, I loved that she jumped up on the car and got nasty, that made her character seem tougher and more realistic. Loved my Alex O moments, as usual...sad that he didn't take his shirt off in this ep, but you can't have it all. :)

    Overall I enjoyed and loved the episode. I did predict that Adam would save Kono so I was totally stoked that it happened, I hope they show a bit more about Adam and Kono's relationship (Ian Anthony Dale is a dreamboat hottie!) I had also previously predicted that Shelburne would be Steve's Mom, an idea that started when her name was never mentioned in the first season.
    I loved Daniel Dae Kim and his portrayal of a grieving husband, especially the scene in the end where he breaks down in the house.
    Catherine was a great addition and have been waiting for that since she was introduced, she has awesome chemistry with Steve. The comment about how he didnt think her looking after his mom like her own came out wrong indicates that things might get serious between the two in the future.
    The claw scene was silly, albeit could have been better if instead of the armored car being dropped in the ocean, it could have been set on the ship - much more believable. After all it has been done in

    Gotta say I loved the episode! Yes, I knew what to expect, and most of it happened that way. Not a bad thing, just means I pay a lot of attention to this show and love to analyze it - maybe too much! Over the top helicopter escape? Sure! Fun to watch? Totally! And what is so wrong with that? We love it on James Bond - why can't H5-0 be Network TV's rendition of James Bond fun? Loved Christine Lahti - she played Mom McG perfectly. She's quirky, confusing, gritty, secretive and possibly a downright liar. Mother-in-law from hell? Ask Danny! Wo Fat as Steve's half brother? Don't think so - too many variables to consider there, but I DO think Wo Fat and Doris have had a "professional" relationship through the years - spy company-related. We'll find out by the end of the season! Catherine Rollins is a wonderful addition to the cast. She IS the person Lori could have been last season. The acting prize goes to DDK, for sure. He rocked all of Chin's emotions beautifully. Nothing disappointin

    I'm a huge H50 fan, so it pains me to say 301 was a disappointment. Daniel Dae Kim was fantastic, with his quiet strengh and sorrow, Adam/Kono with seriously hot chemistry, Kamekona wanting little Stevie pics and the few McDanno moments were enjoyable. I'm holding off on Doris until we see more. Fine line between drama and soap opera sometimes. I thought she came off rather harsh interrogating Danny and her talk with Steve. Intriguing character who looks like she may be more dark side after letting Wo Fat go. As long as they are not related, I want to learn more.

    The escape and the public shootout were too far over the top and cartoonish. The whole crime story was rushed and nonsensical. Also cartoonish was Cath. Sorry I don't buy the analyst desk jockey head butting and beating up one of Wo Fat's goons, while she lets Wo Fat go up to get Shelbourne. That and she is free to come and babysit? I hope the writers do not make her into a Mary Sue Lori 2.0 but it sure started t

    After season one this show started to go off the rails and I don't think anyone has found the track again. Are these people Hawaii 5 O or James Bond forces? The helicopter rescue of the bad guy was beyond belief (also where my husband and I said James Bond movie at the same time). The scene where Steve and his mother reunited
    was awful, unbelievable, and, did I mention awful?
    Someone PLEASE tell CBS to watch Season One and go back to the promise this show had!

    Hawaii Lame-O. Look it's somebodies Mom! Leo pa'a, mumule

  24. Suzanne

    Getting a little ridiculous. SOOOOO tired of the Wo Fat story line. Can't the writers come up with something else. Really close to not watching any more as that story line is boring!!

  25. Lisa

    I guess I'm the only one that did not like Steve's mom? So happy Kono lived but sad for Chin. :(
