oh and I liked the scene with the triangle inside a circle.. Lisbon blushing.. cute I'll try the trick on a few friends.

  2. huisclothes

also, do you get the play on words in my name?

  3. mimi

I agree that HC is hilarious!

I loved those quotes too, thanks for reminding me of them! I need to take notes!
btw I also write down some vocab.

  4. huisclothes

i love giving the english lessons. you are both already so great.

  5. huisclothes

yeah, the hypnosis scene. and the scene in prison in which lisbon comes to visit and he mindf--ks her.
another great one is when he says "i wouldn't seduce you over a meal, that would be very sophomoric" and she says "i didn't think you were trying to seduce me." and he says, "don't tell me that didn't cross your mind. your denial intrigues me." and she says, "bite me."

huisclothes, you are hillaryous today! Love your humor and - sorry mimi, but I guess your english lesson with HC is not THAT privat. I am also profiting from it (hope you don't mind, HC!) I am writing down all these words, so I can study them. Thank's everybody to help us non-nativ-english people with the finesse of the language! I guess I'm really getting a bit TM coockoo, because once in a while I'll quote a line or two in my everyday speach with "normal" people! They fortunately don't notice, but I'm gettin a little worried about myself!LOL!

  7. mimi

oh and of course "hug in a cup" :-)
and I love it when he says "voilĂ !"

  8. mimi

I also watch episodes while doing stuff on my computer, instead of listening to music..

  9. mimi

ah yes I agree HC! I loved the hypnosis scene with Lisbon, not a quote per se though

  10. huisclothes

that's cute. i love when patrick said in the pilot, "i tell you this so you'll know there's no point hiding things from me."
i most like the stuff that mesmerizing and masterful and sexy and svengali-like. "i know you're in trouble and i feel sure i can help you. so call me, and i'll come." that was the line that did it for me. i wanted to drink his bathwater.

  11. mimi

    nice HC!

  12. huisclothes

as i've mentioned before, i've seen every one at least ten times. i am a night owl. i have them all on dvd and put them on tv in the background as i'm writing or reading. i look up for scenes with patrick.

  13. mimi

btw we have talked about our fav epi or lesser ones but what about our fav QUOTES!?

I think about it now because there is one that stuck the other day. when Grace and Cho are outside a school in 4*15 (epi with Erica) andGrace tells Cho that people called her Bracy Gracy at school because of her braces so she says "what did they call you?" and she remains stoic and says "Cho" I think it's hilarious

  14. huisclothes

un petit peu. i read better than i speak. and unless someone speaks lentement, it's sometimes hard for me to catch what's being said. i have an ok vocabulary, i think. i love france and the french language.

  15. huisclothes

stutter is an example of the english onamanoepia where a word sounds like its definition. example: buzz, whisper.

  16. mimi

ahah I agree! he's cute in that epi, a lost lamb indeed!

oh so jaunty would come from gentil? almost the same pronouncitation.
    HC do you speak french?

  17. mimi

HC thank you for this private lesson! I love it! I knew stutter but not stammer, lol you made me laugh st st stammer.

I love writing so it's important I get the notions of the words and their nuances. not easy because even in my own language, I don't.

I think Simon's acting in some intense scenes is priceless. I mean he is always good but you know..
It's high time we got to watch a new episode because I'm rewatching old ones again and again and at one point I'll get bored! do you also do that? or am I the only crazy one?

  18. huisclothes

also think jaunty may be an english bastardization of the french, gentil.

  19. huisclothes

i adored episode 5, red dawn. patrick is so sweet, like a lost lamb; but still brilliant and manipulative. love when he gets a bloody nose and lisbon leads him into the cbi with her arm around him and he says, "teresa lisbon, that's a nice name" like she's let him into her world and he's going to work his magic on her.

  20. huisclothes

@mimi corny is old-fashioned. trying to be amusing or sentimental. but in a way that's been heard or seen over and over so it just comes off as trite and boring.
camp describes humor that would be understood by sophisticated people as referring to something in an arch, mannered self-conscious way. from the french, camper. like a poseur. in the u.s, often associated with the humor of gay people. bette midler: referring to musicians "getting down" - (performing in soulful passionate way) - said, "i never ever get down. well, only for vast sums of money.
stammer and stutter are related. they have the quality of a speech impediment. it sounds like someone can't get the words out and therefore gets stuck on trying to say them. st-st-st-stammer.

  21. bonaduz

@mimi:yes, Swiss indeed. And yes, there are 4 official languages in Switzerland. German, french, italian and romansh (only about 20'000 people speak that though - including my entire paternal family). We learn french, italian and english in school, but my french has dissapeared almost entierly (has been a couple of years since school). My italian is not bad, I need that in my part of the country quite often.
Agree with you, I also really liked 5/05! Jane looked like a lost puppy when Lisbon kicked him out of the car and spoke to Cho on the cell. Then she tells him to forget about revenge and get a new life - loved his body language there. KM and huisclothes, hope you enjoyed your tea! I'm getting myself a cup of coffee! KM: we have to wait 'til May to find out?? OH MY....

  22. mimi

Once I was at a friends and we mentioned the mentalist and the other couple said they were watching too but were a bit fed up, I guess because of the RJ thing being stretched.I'd love to find someone who's as hooked as I am to watch a few episodes with me, must be fun. although this board is amazing too of course!

  23. mimi

no I meant in season 5, I loved epi 5 actually, I know many people didn't but I think it was a great one, nice to see how it all started!

  24. mimi

Bonaduz so you're Swiss indeed! I know you speak German there and French too right? do you speak French at all?
I'm Belgian and speak French.. so we're not neighbours but close anyway!

Right KM and HC I need to look up a few words in the dic like "corny", "jaunty" (earlier), "stammer" I can't believe there are so many words I still don't know!!!
that's a goldmine here if you want to improve your English (for foreigners obviously)
I'm also a tea addict, esp Earl Grey and green sencha. I have seen that CBS sells the saucer and cup from the show, it's funny!

I also think that some scenes are way too corny, I read somewhere else that someone used the word camp and I guess it means the same. doesnt it?

  25. huisclothes

@mimi do you mean episode 5 of season five?
