god HC how am I going to sleep now! as it's slowed down, you can clearly see they put their tongue and everything! usually Simon's kisses are less invasive.
no wonder she enjoyed it lol

@bonaduz shorty robe is a camp way of saying short robe. it may be limited to a population of my family when i was growing up but you would definitely come off as making fun of a robe that you called shorty.

yes Robin's dress was maybe not the best choice.. she's so thin though, could wear anything. I figured out we are probably the same height as she's short. I know simon is 1m77 and you can clearly see Lisbon is about 20cm shorter, if you remove her heals. if only I could have her figure!

yes we read the same thing huisclothes. his smile at the beginning is priceless, when they're having coffee at Starbucks and she come sup with an excuse to leave him. what a beautiful smile.
It's funny because when I see a pic of him smiling, I can tell if it's an acting smile meaning Simon acting or real simon, he definitely not smiles the same way, esp when he's embarrassed. see the video link I put? I love that embarrassed smile, I guess that's what made me want to see more of him, he's humble and I love that in a man.

HC: as you guessed, I'm no fashion queen! Thanks for the lesson. I'll watch prada again and pay attention to everybody's clothes. It's not important to me and so I do not pay enough attention - but I'll change that. Also what you said about Robin Tunney's outfit at the star ceremony... Wouldn't have noticed, but now that you mentioned it, I see what you mean.

@bonaduz the way simon looks in that scene in the white room in sex and death 101. exquisite. every shot of that miracle of a face in that movie is a masterpiece.
@mimi i bet they had a crush on him. also, i think it was a heavily female production so a lot of girls were staring at him all day. he said that he had to tan himself to a crisp so that they could expose for him as well as the african american cast. he said that wherever he went during the filming, people told him he was overdoing the tanning and that he looked crazy. i actually think it was overdone and in some shots, he's too dark -- just looks fried. i think since playing that role, he has become a bit of a boy toy to african american women.

Something new - yes! I often wonder how the actors handle scenes like these? I mean, it looks pretty real to me! (Tongue and all!!!) Yes I know, they are professionals and all.... but hey - they are still men!

@bonaduz re devil wears prada. when i first saw the film, i didn't know who simon was. all i remembered is his voice and the way he kept stepping on anne hathaway's lines, peppering her with questions and making her nervous. he was all sex and seduction. what i did notice is how awful the fashion was. no editor of vogue would be caught dead wearing what meryl streep wore. same goes for what they did with anne hathaway and emily blunt. hollywood never gets this right. though anne's gown at the museum party was lovely. i even hated how they dressed simon. that stupid scarf. much like the mentalist fashion-oriented episodes, it was a little inept. patricia field (she did sex in the city) did the costume design. she's kind of coarse and trashy. they needed a real fashion person. givenchy did audrey hepburn's clothes in her films. cecil beaton directed. 50 years later, the films still look impossibly chic.

When my boys were little, I always bought them pajamas, but as soon as they were 8,9 years old, they refused to wear them anymore. But you're totally right mimi, Patrick looks like a 12year old, kicking his sheets, rolling around on the bed, reading on his belly - kind of cute, even wearing PJ's!

yes well he's delicious for sure.. he can kiss me anytime I have no excuses.. his lips.. I love the love scene in Something New, the way he says "I think you're adorable" and slides his index on her lips, god..apparently, she has a real crush on him.. they had to rate each others kissing and she said he was a 11. also he needed a tan and some people of the make up crew (women) saw him naked. everyone had a crush on him! no really??

@mimi. even a t-shirt and a pajama bottom would be ok.
i loved margin call. would have thought it was great even without simon. beautifully written and played. the cast is amazing. glad he was in that company. it won the best screenplay oscar. definitely good for his career.
simon in the devil wears prada is delicious. that scene where anne hathaway says, "i'm running out of excuses," and he says "thank god."

HC: I also found it funny (or weird, or soooo not Patrick) that they put him in PJ's! But oh well. And that shorty robe (that's a new word for me!). I have never seen a man wear this kind of thing either. But hey - who knows what the rich and famous wear? LOL Speaking of clothes: Love the Jean Jacket and shirt he wears in S&D 101 in that scene in the white room. It goes good with his eyes! I have not seen Margin call yet. It's worth a peek you say? I liked the devil wears prada, but for you, living in NY, beeing into fashion AND having your favourite actor in it - pretty good, eh?

February 16th, 2013 4:21 PM
ah really? well thank you, Bona you were right! my apology..
I didn't hear that at all but ok you explained why it was not clear.
When I started watching the series in OV I had such a hard time because I'm very very very used to British English, the accent is so different, I couldn't understand half of what they were saying, also because they use a lot of cop vvocab that I'd never heard before. Grace and Lisbon were the worst, Simon was the easiest to understand for me. Now it's ok, I've got used to their accent and for nothing on earth I'd swap again and watch it in French, although I must say, his voice is not too bad.

oh yes I have also seen the devil wears prada and loved it, weird to see a "despicable" Simon, Meryl Streep made me laugh and at the same time it's quite tragic. how she cuts herself from her emotions. anyway, I haven't seen Margin Call because it doesn't appeal to me.
HC I agree about the pj, I was like WTF?? I mean come on.. he looked like a 12yo.. what man wears a pj anyway, I don't know any.. it's rather a tshirt and boxer or sthg but never mind.

yes. despicable. and she says it with a slight lisp which teresa always gets in her voice when she's on the verge of tears. dith-pic-able. she shakes it off quick but she's very emotional and upset. at the end of red john's footsteps, she struggles with her words in the same way.

February 16th, 2013 4:14 PM
Bonaduz, I rewatched it as I thought it could totally fit but what I hear is "you're just..." I hear "just" but I don't know.. It must be a word I already know..to me it's definitely not despicable.

@bonaduz saw "not forgotten." on the interesting side but ultimately, not a good film. simon is in beautiful shape. it's also one of the two movies where he wears a stupid shorty robe. (the other being sex and death 101.) i don't know men who wear that kind of thing. especially standing around in his bedroom with his wife. also in red handed, they put him in pajamas. really? patrick packed pajamas? understand why they show very little of his body. it's a great metaphor for his sexual unavailability. but pajamas? have you seen margin call? that's a fine ensemble film. simon plays a really bad guy. he's proud of that role. la confidential and devil wears prada probably round out that list. look at his bio, that's what he features. that's why i cringed for him when the host at the ceremony tried to force applause for all the films that simon hates.
