The case itself and some of the circumstances seemed a bit stretched, but not the first time we've seen that. A show like this is allowed some artistic license. Overall though, it felt like a more old school episode to me. Especially with the probie hazing. Nice seeing Vance showing some emotion and letting others in to help. Funny seeing him and Dorneget pulling a revenge prank on DiNozzo.

To the haters, you all put way too much emotion into the show. You do realize you don't have to watch it. You could also write your own Fan-fic if you want it your way.

    @Michael
Your logic makes no sense. How does MW directing the next episode, two weeks from now I might add, have anything to do with this episode?

    1) I like how Tim warned Dorney about Tony shennigans 3am wake up calls, using him as his goffer, buy ordering him to get him food. Regardless, if Tony is the SFA that does not give him the right to use probies for his personal ammusment.
    2) I did like how Vance and Dorney teamed up, against Tony. I think Vance was trying to help Dorney gain some self confidence around Tony.
    3) Liked the serial killer story, line. People have killed for alot worse. Also, reminded me of Season 2 episode Jane Doe.

Michael Weatherly doing the next one which is good the last one he did brought EJ into the show( miss her so much) I wonder if these is when we will meet his New girl friend,

I know their different shows but you would think NCIS and NCIS LA would work together to get and find that Nurcler Bomb thats in DC.

I think people read too much into it whenever Tony looks at Ziva some way or she looks at him. I don't believe for a moment Ziva is into Tony. She sees him as a playful, naughty partner and colleague and there is no romance whatsoever. I think both the writer and others are shipping for a Ziva Tony romance and so far the producers aren't having it, and I'm with them. They are agents and work together. They can have fun, laugh, go undercover and play husband and wife, but there is no need for a hookup. Get over it Tiva fans. It's a stupid childish concept you all are wishing for.

Wow really sad when the only good thing you can find good about the episode is

What I liked very much was the scene where Vance asked Abby to help with his daughter...FINALLY a strong father figure doing what he is supposed to do as a Dad.....well written!

So my point is that though the reviewer didn't buy that a TV journalist would actually kill to keep his job, I do buy it because I've seen the desperate journalists from all different media, and I know that it is tremendously hard to find a paying job as a reporter nowadays, and it is even harder to keep it. Desperate people do desperate things, and that broadcast journalist looked like he was getting long in the tooth, so he probably knew his days on air were numbered, and that he was looking at possibly years of unemployment, trying to find another position at a radio or TV station.
That said, I LOVED this episode, because I was so thrilled with how Vance handled Abby and allowed her to hug him and had her help his daughter with her science project. Win-win for everyone! I was also glad to see Tony get it in the chops for a change, he deserves a bit of grief.

Speaking as a journalist of 27 years,
(albeit print journalism instead of broadcast journalism), I can honestly say that I can imagine a desperate broadcast journalist murdering women, especially women he sees as not valuable to society because they are drug junkies. My husband worked as a broadcast journalist, both in radio and TV, and the TV people were mostly ruthless people who cared only for their own rising star, and they didn't care who they had to step on to get where they wanted to be, and to stay there. With ad revenue closing down print publications and radio stations scrambling to keep advertisers to pay salaries, you have to know that TV stations are feeling the pinch, too. So firing journalists for being older and not as attractive, or for not getting the big stories that draw viewers is not uncommon.

    @ my last comment
Season 10 cannot be over for it is the year of TIVA! >:)

Loved it! Wonder what's the next episode... Season 10 cannot be over yet.

I love the ensemble cast and how the writers have given each castmember their own storyline. Any week there could be a story that favors a couple of characters. I do miss old Ziva though. She is so "milk toast" versus what she was when she came on board.

  13. Ann Woodward

This was a different type of episode but I see the writers delving into characters a little more than just a case to solve. Take a barber who knows and trusts Gibbs enough to confide in him about his son. Take an NCIS director who after tragedy becomes a more likeable human being. I have never been a fan of Vance but now really like him. Don't care for Dornegut at all. He just isn't a good fit. Abby is priceless as usual in her caring for Vance and his family. Funny too with her old classmate. Tony, what's not to like. Yes he jokes around but none of the other characters do that so he lightens the load. As for Ziva, I think she is still grieving and although trying not to show it slipped up with letting the detective see the paperwork. Love McGees little smiles when Tony gets his expense reports back.
    Love this show.

@MCAL: I'm pretty jazzed that the viewership is so high for this show. The entire ensemble - actors, writers, directors, etc. - certainly are showing their worth aren't they? People don't tune into something they dislike. Not usually anyway. The storylines this season have been superb.

@Jennifer: I noticed Ziva's reaction to Tony any time he referenced other women. I didn't say anything in the review about it, out of respect for those among us who gag at the thought of "Tiva". :) I will say though that this behaviour from her, along with her ganging up with him on Dorneget, looks *really interesting*.

it was alright....but, i didn't like seeing the director joining in on getting back at tony for what he to dorney....imo, that does NOT show respect.....as for the test tony said were given: i would think, in order to become a "field agent" you would NEED to have some "in the field" time.

i did NOT find tim telling dorney NOT to let tony pull "rank"....tony is a SFA....he is OVER probies...and those are to FOLLOW orders of those ABOVE them.....i'm SICK OF THE DISRESPECT shown to a SENIOR FIELD AGENT...and that goes for gibbs as well.

I have a feeling they are including this Dornegut guy in episodes is merely to kill him off later

I must be the only one who didn't like this ep. I thought Abby looked terrible in the dress, Tony acted like a jerk, don't care for Vance so he is meh to me, didn't like the case(s), Ziva not figuring out what the Det. was doing was way off in character, AND to mention who turned up as the murder was an eye roll for me. Killed for a story? Please. All in all, this is one I will probably not watch again. Love this season but not this ep.

I am a big TIVA fan, and am curious to know if Cote De Pablo is thinking of leaving the show as she is the only member who still has not signed up for season11. For me this would be devastating as no matter who replaced Ziva ( were she to leave) it just would not be the same. Also, the writers need to speed things up between the two of them as it is frustrating that they blow hot and cold, there needs to be a constant progress in their relationship. ho said there can't be happy endings!

  19. Jennifer

I liked this episode even though he crime part had me confused. A couple of observations: 1) happen to notice hat every time Tony was taking about women Ziva seemed to be rather annoyed with him. I understand that completely. I would have been he same way!! 2) is it just me or does Pauley Parrette seem a bit pregnant looking at times? Maybe it's the dress or something?

Loved Tony and Dorneget gong to the Bahamas! Those parts were hilarious!
But Tony always cracks me up..that man is so crazy!! :) not to mention he looked hot in pink.
All in all good episode. Next week is a repeat so guess ill have to wait a while for next post!

  20. MCAL

It even beat American Idol in viewers for the first time ever. So yeah. Best season ever indeed.

  21. MCAL

20.35 million viewers. That makes seven consecutive weeks in a row that NCIS has gotten over 20 million viewers. Really, whoever said this season was the worst has no idea what they are talking about.

I've always thought there was more to Leon than met the eye. I observed the way Gibbs interacted with him and figured that Gibbs saw something there that wasn't obvious to the rest of the team. Leon -by virtue of how he came to head NCIS and from his history in NCIS - has had to prove himself in ways his predecessors didn't. He's savvy enough to see through the protective wall Gibbs has built around himself and recognize that he's built some walls himself. He also knows that Gibbs has been through a loss of a soulmate as he has and knows he'll be a great resource for getting through the healing process - probably more than an encounter group. It didn't surprise me that he would use Gibbs' counsel to figure out a creative way to channel Abby's desire to help into something that wouldn't drive him crazy.
I like "Dorney". Not surprised to see Siva and

Kate used to join Tony in "hazing" McGee when he was first promoted.

I enjoyed the ep better than most lately. I'm one of the few it seems who prefers the old/original formula of well developed primary crime mystery first with punches of humor and character rather than the whole thing being totally character driven with a crime poorly fitted in as an afterthought and contrived Tony humor. IMO the merging of these elements worked a bit better this time. What I did like specifically was this version of Gibbs and I liked the Gibbs/Vance interactions. Glad to see Dorneget back. He makes a good and likeable probie character now that McGee is a bit beyond the green.

  25. Patricia

I loved everything about this show. I watch for pure enjoyment and there's no show that does it better IMHO.
