Castle Review: The Billionaire's Kiss

at . Comments

Well, let’s talk about that tension.

Castle aired "The Squab and the Quail" this week, an episode that centered on the attempted murder of a billionaire of whom Castle is jealous and who has quite the interest in a certain beautiful detective.

ABC made the right decision by rearranging “The Squab and the Quail” with “Still,” the installment originally intended to air this week. “Still” features an explosive situation, and in light of the recent tragic events in Boston, ABC flip-flopped the episodes. So there is a slight chance that background pieces between our favorite writer/detective duo could be out of order. We'll find out next Monday.

Ryan and Castle Scene

Watch What You Eat. The weekly murder mystery involved billionaire Eric Vaughn. There was an attempt to both poison and shoot him. Good thing the gorgeous Kate Beckett was on the scene to protect him.

This brought out the jealous side in Castle and I can’t say that I blame him. First, he hit on Kate, then he tried to kiss her. Boy better back up! I don’t really care about his accent or his stunning smile, he is no Richard Castle and Beckett knows that.

Although...there was a slight hesitation from Beckett when Vaughn questioned her relationship, as well as during the kiss. Beckett tried to ask the serious question to her man at the end of the hour. Where is this going? Doesn’t look like she got the answer she wanted.

Where is this relationship going? Things are serious. They spend the night with each other all the time. Is marriage in the cards for Caskett? Should it be?

Another theme that went throughout this installment was the idea that Castle takes advantage of Beckett. Does he? Sure, the man likes his video games, but I still wouldn't make such a classification. I mean, really, didn’t Beckett take advantage of his feelings for quite some time before they got together? Just saying.

Side Notes:

  • So did we know that Beckett is the youngest female detective in NYPD history? That’s what I’m talking about girl!
  • It’s always nice to see TV Veteran Ioan Gruffudd on our screen, especially since Ringer has gone off the air.
  • This episode was the first in a while where we saw all of the cast! What a welcome change!
  • How much fun are the boys when they are together?

Overall, a fun episode to lead us into the last few of the season. There were some great Castle quotes - especially from Espo. What did you think, TV Fanatics? Did you enjoy “The Squab and the Quail?"

Sound off in the comments and don’t forget to check back for the Castle Round Table later in the week.

Except, we already knew Beckett was the youngest female detective in the history of the NYPD. Gates mentioned it in the season 4 premiere "Rise" and also added that Beckett beat her "by one week." Beckett then retorted that she didn't realize it was a contest.

I am thinking since they pulled the other episode, that once we see all of them meant to be seen up to this one, it might make more sense in their relationship. At least that is what I am hoping. All I know is thank goodness relationships are not this hard in real life! Episode in itself was okay. Nothing awesome, but there were some great lines that made me LOL. I don't remember it word for word, but when Castle was with Espo and Ryan and said something along the lines of they can't make her deal with a rich guy just because he wants her and they looked at him and said, yeah that has never happened before. These are the moments that make Castle so fun to watch.

This is one episode that I won't be rewatching. The whole thing was like out of the blue for fans...I mean there hasnt been any lead up to last nights wth are we doing and going. Last week they are having pillow talk and now are seemingly on the rocks. Just doesn't make me feel good for the last two episodes

castle was in the wrong when he was playing video games and a beautiful woman is waiting for him in the bedroom,he should make the first move and try to make it up to her,but somehow i know it will work out after all its caskett

Castle has been norhing but loyal and decvoted to Beckett and i cant say the same about her. She knew the guy was hitting on her , she knew it would drive Castle mad , she knew he wanted to kiss her and let it happen. You dont do that if you are totally in love with someone else. I thought Beckett would have told Castle that she loves him by now but she hasnt and it really irks me. Love is not a complicated thing , you either love someone or you dont and i start to doubt Beckett.

I didn´t like watching Castle taking Kate for granted, but didn´t like her actions either; sharing facts of her personal life with someone she just met? not the Kate I know, for sure! And let the guy charm her and step to her space close enough to kiss her? and close her eyes waiting for the kiss? (she only pushed him away in the last moment, felt guilty I suppose); no, didn´t like it!
Like someone said, close them somewhere and let them free only after they talk all their issues out!
And I don´t think it´s a wedding arc, more like a break up...

Someone (Lanie and Ryan and Espo!) needs to lock Castle and Beckett in a room somewhere until they have an honest, complete conversation about their relationship. All this angst throughout the episode was completely unnecessary, and, quite frankly, a bit annoying.

Trust is a must in any relationship! Remember the episode when her shrink doctor asked her, "what are you afraid of?" That he won't wait for you or that he will? Seems like she is still on an emotional roller coaster. But the reality is that Castle really loved Kate from the beginning. She wants to know where is this relationship going? She has to speak up and let her feelings known. I am with another person who commented, joyful. Tell him you love him!! She really needs to do that. Then we have an episode which she runs away again, according to the bomb episode that ABC thoughtfully pulled. Well we love the show but we need closure with their characters more then the cold hearted and emotional blows that lead up to the next time!

Yeah Joy Ricks been burned with marriage before so do we blame him for wanting to take it easy?
MY last breakup cost me a few hundred thou and I can't tell you I never want to get married again!
Kate is the one that massively insecure and not surprisingly she's doing the kissing!!! Looking for an billionaire upgrade?
As stated before it's probably a wedding arc for Caskett but Kate is going to have to do a hell of a lot of emotional growing up before that comes about.

@David & Teri - THANK YOU - I was afraid I'd be the only one...
