Christopher Abbott Exits Girls, Differences with Lena Dunham Cited for Departure

Christopher Abbott has left Girls.

The actor, who played Marnie's on-again/off-again boyfriend Charlie for two seasons - and who was most definitely on again with the beauty to close Girls Season 2 - has reportedly departed the HBO series due to differences with creator Lena Dunham.

Charlie and Marnie

“[Chris] is grateful for the experience of collaborating with Lena, Judd [Apatow], and the entire Girls cast and crew, but right now he’s working on numerous other projects and has decided not to return to the show,” the actor’s rep told The New York Post.

The fallout took place during production of Season 3, the newspaper reports, with a source on set saying Abbott didn't like the "direction" of his character.

It's unclear at this time just how Charlie will be written out.

Girls Quotes

Marnie: I don't want to be married to you. It's not even your fault. I mean, yeah, you're an asshole, but it's really not your fault. I just... I knew I shouldn't have married you. I just didn't want to give up on yet another dream.
Desi: What are you talking about?
Marnie: I just don't know who I am right now. I'm like a ghost of myself. I don't know what I'm doing here or anywhere else. But I don't want to be married to you.

I was not rolling my eyes at you, I was looking up at a cloud formation that looked a lot like Blake Lively.
