The Mentalist Season 6: What We Hope to See

at . Comments

September 29th feels like it's a long way off. Mostly because it is. And as much as we enjoy summer, the cool breezes of autumn and our favorite shows returning with new episodes weigh heavy on our minds.

So since we have to wait another 80-plus days for the season premiere of The Mentalist, we decided to make a list.

Read on, TV Fanatics, and see if our hopes and dreams for The Mentalist Season 6 match yours. Vote for what you'd most like to see happen come fall and don't forget to share your thoughts and add anything we've missed in the comments below.

Jane's Wild West

Our Mentalist Season 6 Wish List:

The Big Reveal. Yes, we finally want to know Red John's true identity. It's been five seasons. It's about time we know.

A Love Interest for Cho. One that doesn't involve a hooker, a junkie, or any other type of criminal. Someone worthy of the character we've grown to love.

More Rigsby and Van Pelt. It took a long time for these two to find their way back to one another. We're hoping to see this couple stay happy for a while.

Jisbon. That's the shipper name for Jane and Lisbon for those not in the know. A Jane / Lisbon pairing has been hinted at and teased for five seasons. It's included an I love you from Patrick that he later side stepped and many doe eyed looks for Teresa. It's about time these two had an honest conversation about how they feel for one another.

A Kiss. For those of us who don't care about the talking and want a little more action, a real kiss between this dynamic duo would make us cheer.

Casual Time. Wouldn't it be great to see the entire team spend a little more time outside the CBI?

Real Danger for Our Core Team. Show creator Bruno Heller promised that Red John will be targeting closer to home this season. We're hoping that means RJ will go after someone on Jane's immediate team. Not that we want to see Lisbon, Cho, Rigsby, or Van Pelt die at the hands of the merciless serial killer…but having one of them in serious peril will have us glued to the screen.

YOUR turn: Pick the story you're most hoping for on The Mentalist Season 6...

Thanks, Rationalgal, I was trying to take a break! Dam! I love this show!

I can just imagine all the things he might say like; Patrick my boy, you can be the puppet or the puppet master! How does it feel to be enlightened, to be awakened to the truth and then waste it living an ordinary life? You deserve more Patrick and I can give that to you. You are like me, my apprentice, don't stop now because of some humanitarian need to do good. There is no such thing as good and evil. There is just evolution and who controls it. It can be me and you or them. Patrick you have seen what I can do. Why doubt me now?

I can just see Stiles flipping the switch and telling Jane how he killed his family for his own good. "You are like a son to me Patrick and if you join with me there's nothing we can't achieve." You were a arrogant little punk until I changed your life. You should be thanking me instead of trying to kill me. Life means nothing Patrick, if you don't know what to do with it! Most people don't even know what to do with their lives so they don't deserve it. They are like sheep to be ruled over. Join me Patrick and I'll give you the keys to my kingdom! I'll make you the ruler over this rock we live on. Now, Patrick, make your choice!

Continued-A man so arrogant as to want to be friends after such a horrendous act. I would want to rip his kingdom down and chase him straight into hell and torment him for all eternity. I would not care about anything else but that because he would deserve my wrath forever! Woooo! I really hope it's Stiles! I know I won't be disappointed!

Bret Stiles would make a good Red John! He makes a good case for it. He has so much to lose! He has been hiding in plain sight this whole time. Not to mention just toying with Jane this whole time. Can you imagine how would feel if it were you and you discovered that this person had double played you the whole time. That you sat feet away from the person that has tortured you for ten years and murdered your family.

Just a thought on Brett Stiles before S6 starts: He presents himself as a genial person, basically harmless and all for doing his Visualize good. But he is worse than Red John. Much worse. RJ has killed a couple dozen people, but the Visualize dogma has destroyed the productive lives and even literally the lives of untold numbers of followers of his woo woo belief system. We've seen only small signs of that but enough to get the "big picture" RJ minions talk about. Just as we see in real life with some of these extreme belief systems. So regardless of what his relationship is or is not to RJ I hope he suffers a physically and mentally extremely painful end. If somehow he does turn out to actually be RJ I for sure won't be disappointed, so if that's what Heller has in mind and he expects viewer disappointment, that won't include me.

If Lisbon is telling Van Pelt about the names, that is probably good. After the way she messed up with O'Laughlin she should be kept fully informed so she realizes how important it is to not trust anyone outside the CBI team no matter how much she can't believe someone of the list can't possibly be RJ and run her mouth at the wrong time and place.

I watched Simon Baker on the talk today. Very brief, nothing we don't already know except that Lisbon told Van Pelt about the names. I wonder why Van Pelt? Couple of weeks left to go.

I watched the rerun last night of Red and Itchy. It reminded me of what a great character LaRoche is. Lots of depth and breadth created with very little storytelling needed. I will be heartbroken if he is killed or (worse) turns out to be RJ. The story itself was another wonderful display of human interaction, compassion, and venality driven by unfulfilled emotional needs. Human, all too human. It's on my list as one of the best episodes. And no car chases, violent fits fights, explosions or shootouts needed. Loved that Jane overrode his curiosity about the contents of the Tupperware box out of respect for LaRoche's privacy even though Laroche believed Jane know the contents. I've never seen any other TV show with this level of intelligent exposition of human failings and goodness mixed with "cops and robbers" story lines. I love this show!!

Yep, you are right RationalgalR. You said a mouthful....the timeline is what it needs to be. Way back when the origional Startrek was on, there was a person whose job was to take care of all those details. Week to week she kept them straight. Continuity they call it. I think that person wrote about it in a book. Maybe they don't employ such a person these days. And yes, mostly I just ignore that stuff or give up trying to sort it out lol.
