The Glades Review: Left At the Altar

at . Comments

I had a bad feeling going into The Glades season 4 finale that we might get stuck with a cliff-hanger. But in my wildest dreams, I never thought it could have been worse than last year when Jim popped the question to Callie and we had to wait 41 weeks to find out her answer.

I was very wrong.

My wife and I both sat with our jaws hanging open as the credits began to roll. I’m stunned that "Tin Cup" ended with not only Callie and Jim NOT married, but Jim lying in a pool of his own blood, feebly attempting to reach his phone. And now we have to wait more than 9 months for the answer.. IF the show gets renewed.

Fight for the Future

Have I mentioned how much I loathe cliff-hangers? If you’re not a frequent reader of my reviews, allow me to explain: In today’s Internet-enabled, DVR, movie-streaming world, there is no reason for them. Like the rotary phone and the horse and buggy, they ought to to be put out to pasture.

In the 70s and 80s, where TV seasons started in September and ended in May, sure, you needed a way to bring viewers back in the fall. They had a summer full of reruns, you wanted them to be excited for the return of their favorite shows. But today, with the advent of DVR, online streaming and social media, that’s no longer an issue. Network now run a fall, spring and summer schedule. Shows aren't just 22 episodes in the fall. The old methods don't apply now.

That said, let’s go ahead and get some theories out there on what happened and where things could end up.

I’m guessing that Tony (from Wit-Sec) was the shooter. I think he’s being working with Ray and Ray has convinced him that if Jim were out of the picture then Callie and Jeff would be able to go into Wit-Sec with him and he would give them even better info.

Evidence supporting this: Tony was a little quick on the investigation about the house; and his lack of insistence of telling Callie the truth right away made me suspicious. Also, Ray never struck me as the “shoot a cop” kind or guy.

Then again, maybe Ray’s doing it on his own with only his mother helping in. Did you see the way she looked all sad and nervous as she dropped Jeff off? She knows something. Want to bet that its Ray is in town?

GAH! This is the very reason I hate cliff-hangers! At least Jim’s case was solved. Of course, it was pretty straight forward, so I wasn't overly surprised when he arrested the husband with anger management issues.

Overall, I’m giving the episode 3.5 jilted brides, as I feel like we've all been left at the altar. Here is hoping that we get a Season 5 and that we can finally see Jim and Callie tie the knot!

What the HELL... Ever since "The Glades" season 4 finale... and what a cliffhanger!... I have been waiting impatiently for the new season... just to be totally disappointed by A&E's decisions to cancel the show! Longmire YES... The Glades NO!!!!!!!! Can you please explain why you let audiences who love a show are left hanging by deciding to cancel it? This was a huge mistake! Why did you do this to the show's many fans???

This really upset with whoever is responsible for this.I am asuming its A&E. For this reason i may quit watching that channel for fear of getting hooked on another show that may suddenly get cancelled. The Glades was one of my favorite shows...and well , i am outraged as well as devasted. For all the loyal fans of this show...Please bring it back!

This totally sucks. What is wrong with these people!!!!!i may quit watching any of A&E series for fear they will just cancel them. Unbelievable.

If a show is questionable for renewal, I wish they would let the writers know so the season can be finished. If they then get renewed, they could do a two part episode during the season. This is the second time that I have seen a show cancelled after a cliff hanger season finale. Most frustrating.

The writers did not know it was going to be cancelled until the day before they announced it to the public. They should have made an ending before cutting it all off. Supposedly the guy who plays Jim is in a new series.

So Sad We want to know How it Ends! No We want Jim and Callie to get married and watch them Get Married!!! Please bring it Nack on For One more Season!

Bring back The Glades! It's a great show and it has a spectacular cast.

This show had an average of 2.6 M viewers Monday nights in summer. Not precisely tiny for an A&E scripted Drama. So it's a mystery why they cancelled. Hopefully the petitions get it picked up elsewhere. Or A&E reconsider. As my two cents I think that Corinne shot Jim. And is who Ray has been getting to help him.

I agree with most of the people commenting, it is so stupid to leave it in a cliffhanger if your not going to renew the show... people will stop watching you channel if you keep this up A&E. anyways i fell in love with this show.. yes Calli whines a whole lot and Jim seems to catch all the bad guys no matter if it seems like you would never know who it is.. but its still a really good show... anyways A&E you really need to renew this show because even if it looks like not many people watch it we are out here and we want the show to be renewed. okay now that i am done ranting im outta here thanks

Where is my information. I don't see it posted. The Glades needs to replace the last story with one that makes sense. I have never seen a series end with the main character getting shot. They should have gotten married or shoot another two or three shows and find out who shot him and have them get married. If you wanted to end it, why didn't the writers do it right. They could have syndicated this series, but forget it now. This was disgusting and the writers should be fired.

The Glades Season 4 Episode 13 Quotes

Jim: You guys don't mess around.
Tony: My job is to keep people from becoming your job.

The hazard tells me that one thing for sure, whoever shot and killed our victim wasn't playing around.
