True Blood Review: The Walking Dead

The True Blood season 6 finale is sure to incite some "Radioactive" responses!.

Whether you loved it, hated it or it left you saying WTF... there's definitely a lot to discuss from the concluding episode.

As we finally wrapped things up with the Warlow storyline, the show advanced us six months into the future to a very different Bon Temps and a world filled with Hep V.

It's time to break down the final episode of the season and be forewarned, there are MAJOR SPOILERS ahead....

For those of you who never bought into Warlow's soul mate act with Sookie, bravo: you were right. He was the scum we'd all heard about from various characters over the last season. While he was the catalyst that allowed Bill and Eric to save all those vampires from meeting the sun, he would've been the end of our main chick Sookie. Sure, I thought he'd be pissed when Sookie got cold feet, but I just did not see that backhand coming.

You really are a danger whore aren't you? You risk everything on that hope that you are special. | permalink

Well, you faery vampire psychopath, she's special enough to get rescued time and time again. And with that comes the end of the 5500-year terror known as Warlow! As far as Sookie, I think those words from Warlow stung anyway, because she ended up with a different kind of supe down the line. But we'll get to that in a moment.

With the destruction of Warlow by a simple but awesome dual effort between Jason and Grandpa Niall, all the magic fae blood that the vampires had ingested was suddenly gone with a poof. Billith had already lost his superpowers when he fed everyone and luckily most of the other vampires were indoors. But Eric, our gorgeous viking, was sunbathing nude on the top of a mountain in Sweden and went up in flames. This left us all with the huge True Blood season 6 cliffhanger question: Did they just kill Eric Northman?

My bets are that Pam will find him and swoop in at the last second. C'mon, is that really how they would send off one of the most beloved characters on the entire show? If it is, at least they gave the fans a full front shot of Alexander Skarsgard. Because let's not even lie, I'm surprised the Internet hasn't already crashed due to GIFs of that moment.

As for everything else, I love that Sam is now the mayor. I'm glad to see Arlene found a way to heal after burying Terry: by turning Merlottes in Bellefleur's. I'm happy to see Alcide ditched that hairpiece he was clearly wearing at the funeral and Sookie is finally with a guy who isn't a vampire. After a season as an addled up dickhead packmaster, the old Alcide is back. Jason has learned to be a, um, giver. Good stuff all around.

One thing I could've done without was the reunion of Lettie Mae and Tara. I will never trust that bitch. I wouldn't be surprised if she was infected with Hep V and got Tara to feed on her by pretending to be all apologetic. She is straight up crazy.

All in all, the question we will go into season 7 with is: Can Sam and Bill's idea help save the world from Hep V infected vampires? We finally got rid of the faery-vampire murderer and now we have a crew of zombie vampires on our hands. So what did you all think of the finale? What it irritated me is the way they closed Lilith's and Warlow's storylines. It was anti-climactic and rushed.

But Warlow got crazy after being so good to Sookie and Jason because Sookie started getting cold feet. And Warlow never specified how he wanted Sookie, she thought on the human dimension with her friends, Warlow meant to some fae dimension, just him and Sookie "I won't share you with your friends" he said. Could also be because he was almost drained.

I am sure this dimension that Warlow was trapped is parrarel to the human one, that's how Niall was able to find the right moment to grab Warlow, although I would like to kill him with this supernova ball.

The zompires are terrible and a very bad idea.

Obviously, the worst season finale and possibly the worst episode of the show.

I assumed Eric did die because earlier in the season he had glamoured Alcide to protect Sookie but not find her attractive, now 6 months later they are dating.

Fan from the start...yes I've read all the books. I LOVED this season and episode! Everything does "change" and this has set the stage for character-growth as well and some really fun writing and acting!
The story-line needed to evolve and I'll be excited to see where things go from here!

I thought Lettie Mae was going to have a stake hidden on her somewhere and as soon as Tara started feeding she was going to stake her. So no, I still don't trust that bitch. I don't believe for a second they just killed off Eric Northman, not in such a nonsensical way. If he's going to die, let him do it heroically, majestically. I liked seeing Sookie and Alcide together. And I don't watch zombie shows, so I might be skipping next year. Bring back Marianne or something.

Holy crap - I never thought about Tara's mother deliberately poisoning her daughter, but the logic holds up: she's married to a vamp-hater, and she feels guilty that her daughter got turned. What better way to make things right between them both, and God - but by allowing Hep-V to run its course? Wow. That's twisted thinking but she's always been about twisted behaviour.

Sam as mayor asking the residents to team up each with one vampire to ensure everyone's safety just didn't ring true. Suspension of disbelief can only go so far - but this scheme stretches credulity to the breaking point. No points to the writers on that one. Looking forward to the next season just the same though.

What a horrible ending. We used to have parties for the first and last episode! Now we sit at work and laugh! You lost about 10 people where I work! Even the nude scenes are uncalled for. Looks like Eric got over missing/avenging his sister's death pretty quick!

BTW is it just me or has there been a movie where they used Hep V before!!!

For one I am convinced that Tara's mom is still the scummy person she has always been. She is not trying to save her daughter! She would rather see her dead than a Vampire, my guess is that she is actually a carrier of hep V and trying to kill her daughter. Also I am not convinced that Eric is leaving the show. True Blood would loose too many followers if he was out of the picture. Odds are Pam saves him. As for sookie and Alcide WTF!!!!! They wrap this season up like it was a series ending episode.

It's just sad to see it go downhill after the books started going south years ago. Now there's nothing redeeming about this series. RIP, True Blood.

Oh yeah: Stop trying to make zombie vampires happen. They're not gonna happen.

Ok, after years of defending this show, even I have to admit: True Blood officially sucks.
Seriously, I don't think the writers could have been lazier of they tried. Episode after episode of Warlow asking to be tied up so he wouldn't hurt Sookie, saving her TWICE from her crazy Dad, sparing Jason's life more than once, and with half an hour left in the season, whoops, he actually is evil. Because...well, it's the end of the show, and we have to wrap things up now. Uh huh.
Meanwhile, after killing some human kids and beating the crap out of Sam, Alcide is back to the quintessential good guy. Because...? Oh, right, end of season, gotta get things back to normal now.
We wasted half the season dragging out the funeral of a side character that no one liked because the writers wasted 3 previous three seasons trying to make him a main character. Oh, and the one character we all do care about goes up in flames with absolutely no follow up.
So yeah, done with this show. It's just sad to see it get so crappy, because after the books went downhill, the show was all that's left. RIP, True Blood.

PS: Stop trying to make zombie vampires happen. They're not gonna happen.
