The Originals opened the newest chapter of the battle for New Orleans with "The Casket Girls" and man, what a chapter this is going to be!

What a way to return from a hiatus, right?

Join Leigh Raines and Miranda Wicker and Heather Vee from Vampire-Diaries.net as we break down The Originals Season 1 Episode 10, and then join in with your answers to this week's Round Table questions in the comments!

-----------------------------------------------

What was your favorite quote or scene from The Originals Season 1 Episode 10?

Leigh: Davina taking down the witches was probably my favorite. Even though the scene with Klaus, Marcel, and Elijah was stronger, I hate the older witches so much that I was overjoyed to see her snap their necks. They want to slit her throat and are still into the disgusting harvest ritual.

Heather: I also loved Davina taking out the witches, but I really loved her giving the Original brothers and Marcel what for. And, for me, it underscored how Marcel royally screwed up in keeping Davina out of the Klaus capture plan. Things could have turned out quite differently.

Miranda: I loved watching Rebekah show Davina what it can mean to have an ally who doesn't rule by threatening everyone. She showed the witch that you don't have to kill to get what you want. Sometimes you can just ask. Go Beks! Runner up for me was watching Cami go toe to toe with Klaus and reveal that he can't compel her anymore. I'm really loving Cami.

Does Davina have too much power for her own good?

Leigh: Ehh, I mean she's young and emotional but look at Klaus, he's 1000 and still acts emotionally! I think it would be great if she had a mentor to teach her the best way to harness her power but at this point, her power is one of the only things keeping her alive.

Heather: I think Davina is handling her power surprisingly well, all things considered. I'm with Leigh that a magical mentor is the ideal, but we're on a limited timetable here - Davina's power is supposed to fade as the Reaping nears. Or...is it?

Miranda: I'm going to go ahead and say yes. If we've seen anything about magic and witches it's that power consumes them. Given that she's so young and truly doesn't grasp the magnitude of her powers, I can see it becoming something that destroys her. I've said it before, but I think Davina will have to die in order to save her life.

Better alliance: Marcel and Elijah or Rebekah and Thierry?

Leigh: Tough call because I love Elijah and Rebekah. I think Thierry is a dangerous call, he could still be sired to Marcel. It might backfire on Beks. I'll go with Marcel and Elijah just because it's a full time job keeping Klaus in line and I really do adore Daniel Gilles.

Heather: I'm a sucker for an alliance involving two people who openly dislike each other and I'd love to see more Elijah and Marcel snark time. I also love that they're a united front in keeping Klaus in check. But I am very excited about a potential alliance between Rebekah and Thierry, though I worry that she will once again be left disappointed.

Miranda: I do love seeing Marcel and Elijah together on the screen, so I'm going for that one. Just like Heather said, the snark between them stands to be pretty epic.

Will Rebekah's plan to wrestle control of New Orleans away from Klaus work?

Leigh: Ehh, like I said before, I'm not sure Thierry will be loyal in the long run. However, she has Cami and Davina on her team now and they are both assets. Regardless of the risks, it's the best play she's thought of in awhile.

Heather: I think it very well could if Rebekah makes and maintains careful alliances and does what Klaus repeatedly fails to do - earn others' loyalty.

Miranda: I really, really hope it does. What I would love to see is a strong female lead, and Rebekah's the one to do it. She doesn't need the boys to save her all the time, though she might sometimes want them to. She's perfectly capable of ruling the city on her own and it's time they understood that. I really want to see her sneak New Orleans right out from under Klaus' nose.

What are your thoughts about the return of Celeste?

Leigh: Wow, I was totally shocked when Elijah put the sketches together. I have no idea what it means or what Sophie actually wants with her. I don't trust Sophie for a second and I'm upset Hayley had to betray Elijah. I'm hoping Celeste will end up helping Rebekah or Elijah and not side with the awful current witches.

Heather: What a fantastic twist! The potential for mega-Elijah (and Hayley!) angst, an old, pissed off power, Quarter complications. I love it.

Miranda: I absolutely did not see this coming, but the set-up was perfect! Casually show us Elijah's former flame, tell us how Klaus killed her, have a coven of witches in need of power. PERFECT. But I kind of hope that Celeste possesses Sophie instead of returning in the flesh. I'd love to see Daniella Pineda play a different character. It's always nice to see them do that.

The Originals Season 1 Episode 10 Quotes

There, there, little lambs. Us girls have got to stick together.

Rebekah

For centuries, people have come to New Orleans looking for a fresh start, hoping to find fortune, adventure, even love. Young society women imported from France with the promise of marrying a proper New Orleans gentlemen, like the legendary casket girls. Little did they know that the men who awaited them were far from proper and not at all gentle.
