For its Top 7 performance show, producers prompted contestants to choose songs for other contestants, leading to a pair of widely acclaimed performances:

Jena Irene’s piano-based version of "Creep" and Alex Preston’s take on "The A Team."

Other contestants, meanwhile, covered such artists as Kings of Leon, John Mayer and Miranda Lambert.
