Covert Affairs Canceled by USA after Five Seasons

Annie Walker has left the building.

In a somewhat surprising move, USA decided not to renew Covert Affairs for a sixth season, we learned today.

Annie and McQuaid - Covert Affairs

At the end of Covert Affairs Season 5 Episode 16 Annie was faced with two proposals, one from Ryan McQuaid for marriage and another from Joan to join her CIA task force. She replied with, "Got it." We may never know her answer, unless fans are granted a movie treatment to finish out the story.

Word is the show was a casualty of production costs. The dramatic increase in quality from shooting on location across the globe instead of utilizing green screen shots as well as as the seasoned talent fees, caused the rise in costs.

While Covert Affairs showed incredible time-shifted viewing increases, it was the lowest watch live series among their entire slate of dramas, including the already canceled summer series, Rush.

USA has three new dramas on the way, including Dig and Complications, as well as four more awaiting series pickup as the network shifts it's focus toward hour-long dramas.

Will you miss Covert Affairs? Should the showrunners shop it around to other networks or would you prefer it to go out on a high? If you can't let go, you can watch Covert Affairs online via TV Fanatic.
