Mistresses Season 3 Episode 12 Review: Reasonable Doubt

Is Calista really guilty?

The closing moments of  Mistresses Season 3 Episode 12 would have you believe that, but I have some serious doubts. After her actions these last few weeks, I gladly hopped off the Calista bandwagon, but damn if this week didn't pull me back in.

As we head into the season finale, there are so many things left up in the air, including Calista's guilt, Vivian's illness and the burgeoning relationship between April and Marc. Does anyone see these stories having happy endings?

Things Look Bleak - Mistresses

With Calista and Joss both in the same prison (which seems highly inappropriate, right?) it was only a matter of time before they got a chance to speak. Joss avoided it for awhile, but Calista is one determined lady.

It seemed pretty obvious the fight was a ploy to get some alone time with Joss, and when the two finally aired out their grievances, I was tearing up more than Joss.

Calista: I had no intention of hurting you. None. You were my closest friend. Look at me, you know me.
Joss: No, you know what? You know what I know, Calista, I know that you are ruled by blinding narcissism and selfishness and deceit.

Joss didn't hold back when she laid into Calista, and I really couldn't blame her. Her whole life could potentially be gone and the one person who could truly help her has done the exact opposite.

But even as Joss made valid point after valid point, I couldn't help but feel for Calista. I believed her when she spoke of her affection for Joss, and I felt sad for her as she listened to someone she cared about tell her that she had not a single friend in the world. It was a pretty heartbreaking scene for both ladies and one of my favorites of the season.

It seemed pretty clear from that moment forward that Calista was going to step up and help Joss, but I believe she just confessed to a crime she didn't commit. And I have no idea what comes next for her.

However, what comes next for Joss and Harry is a new house, apparently! Supportive, slightly delusional Harry was, quite frankly, pretty adorable. It's so nice to see them happy with one another and not bickering.

With Calista's confession, it appears that Joss will be set free and maybe we will FINALLY see these two in a solid relationship! Fingers crossed, ya'll!

Now it's no secret that I am the biggest April/Marc shipper out there, so I was very hopeful this would be their week to finally make some progress!

Harry: Hey man, you should seize the day.
Marc: What's that?
Harry: April. Tell her how you feel. She could be taken from you tomorrow.

Unfortunately, Miranda's return put the kibosh on that real quick! That woman sure does ruin everything, doesn't she?

As soon as she showed up, I just knew she was coming to take Scotty, and even though I understand she is the mother, she sure has done some questionable things. I'm not convinced that's where Scotty belongs right now.

Of course Miranda didn't like Marc's defiance, and she did the one thing she knew would hurt Marc the most; she told April about his relapse.

I'd kind of forgotten about the relapse to be honest, because no one has brought it up! I'm hopeful April will be able to get past it, but things aren't looking great for our favorite non-couple.

Finally, we have Karen, who swore to keep Vivian's illness and secret from Alec for one day, so he could receive an award. Clearly there was no way this was going to happen, and with Vivian looking increasingly sicker as the episode went on, it was just a matter of time before things went south.

Do you think the finale will find Vivian succumbing to her illness? I'm not sure I see this storyline going any other way. I imagine this will either bring Karen and Alec closer together or push them further apart. Thoughts?

Alright people, I need your predictions for next week! This show always loves to leave us hanging onto the edge of our seats, so I can only imagine where things are going!

Drop me a comment with your thoughts and chime in on "Reasonable Doubt"! Did you feel sorry Calista? Will April forgive Marc? Are you okay with never seeing Miranda again?

You better watch Mistresses online right now so you're prepared for the craziness next week!

NOTE: Mistresses Season 3 Episode 13 titled "Goodbye Girl" will air on Thursday, September 3rd.

April broke up with Blair! Dropped him like the 180 pounds of dead weight that he was.
