Bones Season 11 Episode 6 Review: The Senator in the Street Sweeper

at .  Updated at .

The gruesome murder of a Senator made Bones Season 11 Episode 6 one of the most entertaining installments of the season.

I’m usually totally grossed out by the scenes with the mutilated corpse, but I didn’t find this one all that horrendous, even when Cam was spilling stomach contents on the floor. The one addendum to that was Hodgins and the eyeball. I can’t handle eyeballs!

Booth and Brennan’s playful banter over having a TV in the bedroom was amusing in a way only they can be, but forget about the TV. How about getting some walls and a door? They’ve got two kids in the house, I can’t imagine that open concept is going to help their sex life either.

Caroline was right; Brennan has no ability to play politics, which was displayed as she described why the present tense was incorrect when referring to their victim…

Was a member of Congress. The use of the present tense is inaccurate now that Senator O'Malley has been killed, dismembered, scavenged by a raccoon and shredded by a three ton industrial street sweeper.

Brennan

With a different partner, that kind of literal directness could be a disaster.

Fortunately, she has Booth who understands how to use her quirks and bluntness to his advantage when interviewing a suspect. It’s part of what makes them such a good team.

That said, neither Booth nor Brennan can impersonate Cagney or Bogart worth a damn.

Jessica and Aubrey were binge watching Battlestar Galactica, and I found that fracking awesome. They definitely make an offbeat couple.

The moment Caroline asked Aubrey to do a background check on Jessica, I figured she knew exactly what she was doing. Not much gets past Caroline.

I’m still unsure how I feel about Aubrey and Jessica moving forward. Aubrey is a straight-laced FBI agent and Jessica is a scientist, left wing protestor and drug user (not currently on the last part, but she’s also not ruling it out in the future).  I’m not sure how successful a long term relationship between the two could be.

As Angela said in this Bones quote

Sometimes the best things in life happen against the odds.

Angela

And sometimes, most times, the odds win. We’ll just have to see how this plays out.

But on the upside, Jessica's relationship concerns gave us one of the best moments when Brennan announced she'd figured out they were talking about Agent Aubrey. She looked so darn proud of herself; it was adorable.
