Kathy Bates is headed back to the twisted, wonderful and downright horrific world of American Horror Story.

Series co-creator, Ryan Murphy confirmed the exciting news of Bates' return to Entertainment Weekly.

“Kathy and Sarah Paulson have a lot of great stuff to get to do,” says Murphy.

“So, with Evan Peters, the three of them are the leads this year.”

Yes, that's confirmation enough that our three leads this year will be Paulson, Peters, and Bates.

We wouldn't have it any other way. Well, we would love for Jessica Lange to book a return visit. Her stellar acting was one of the big reasons the show became a hit in the first place.

There has been some chatter online about what American Horror Story Season 8 will be titled, and "Radioactive" has emerged as a frontrunner.

“I heard about that rumor," says Murphy.

"Well, that’s based on a fact that we’ve cleared a lot of titles for that show. It’s an interesting idea. I can neither confirm nor deny.”

Aside from the above details, little is actually known about the upcoming season. In the past, the cast and crew have been sworn to secrecy.

In fact, the plot details for American Horror Story Season 6 were not actually revealed until the show debuted.

However, the plot details for American Horror Story Season 7 were revealed months before the season debuted.

What were some of Bates most memorable characters in the franchise?

During American Horror Story Season 4, Coven," Bates took on the role of Delphine LaLaurie, doing some of her most frightening work to date on the series. As the mother of two daughters she tortured, she eventually learned payback was a bitch.

As Ethel Darling, the bearded lady, on American Horror Story Season 5, Freak Show, Bates certainly looked different, and she has a little more empathy to her part, too.

Bates was downright off the wall during Roanake when she played The Butcher. We're betting even she still gets nightmares from playing that one!

It's unclear which approach the producers and network are taking for Season 8, let alone what type of character Bates will be playing. Maybe it's her turn to play the victim. She's earned it, don't you think?
