Game of Thrones Prequel Adds Miranda Richardson

The Game of Thrones prequel pilot is adding a Harry Potter star to its ranks.
According to Deadline, Miranda Richardson is the latest addition to the cast of the pilot.
No details about her role have been revealed, and that's not a surprise. Despite some teases, much of the characters the cast will be playing has been kept under wraps.
Richardson joins a cast that already includes Naomi Watts, Josh Whitehouse, Naomi Ackie, Denise Gough, Jamie Campbell Bower, Sheila Atim, Ivanno Jeremiah, Georgie Henley, Alex Sharp, and Toby Regbo.
Much like the original series, the cast for the prequel is poised to be bursting at the seams.

"Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world's descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour," reads the official logline for the Jane Goldman penned pilot.
"From the horrifying secrets of Westeros's history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend, only one thing is for sure: It's not the story we think we know."
Goldman serves as creator and executive producer alongside George R.R. Martin on the project, but Goldman will be the sole showrunner.
SJ Clarkson is on board to direct the pilot.

While other plot details are being kept under wraps, Martin did open up in a recent blog post that all the spin-off shows that were in the works have been prequels.
“None of the characters or actors from Game of Thrones will appear in the new show," Martin shared in June, adding:
"All of the successor shows we’ve been developing have been prequels, as I have mentioned before." "This one really puts the pre in prequel, since it is set not ninety years before Game of Thrones (like Dunk & Egg), or a few hundred years, but rather ten thousand years (well, assuming the oral histories of the First Men are accurate, but there are maesters at the Citadel who insist it has only been half that long)," he continued.
"We’re very early in the process, of course, with the pilot order just in.”
