MEREDITH: "I have this feeling."
DEREK: "I get that feeling also. If you wait long enough it will pass."
MEREDITH: "Do you promise?"
DEREK: "I promise."
MEREDITH: "Hey."
DEREK: "Hey. You almost died today."
MEREDITH: "Yeah, I almost died today."
[pause]
MEREDITH: "I can't, I can't remember our last kiss. All I could think about was 'I'm going to die today' and I can't remember our last kiss. Which is pathetic but the last time we were together and happy... I want to be able remember that. And I can't, Derek. I can't remember."
DEREK: "I'm glad you didn't die today."
[pause]
DEREK: "It was a Thursday morning, you were wearing that ratty little Dartmouth t-shirt you look so good in. The one with the hole at the back of the neck. You'd just washed you hair and smelled like some kind of... flower. I was running late for surgery, you said you were going to see me later, and you lean to me, put your hand on my chest and you kissed me. Soft. It was quick. Kind of like a habit. You know, like we'd do it everyday for the rest of our lives. Then you went back reading the newspaper and I went to work. That was the last time we kissed."
MEREDITH: "If I tell you what I did, you have to react like you're my friend, not not my friend."
DEREK: "I think I can handle that."
DEREK: "I was indifferent."
ADDISON: "What?"
DEREK: "You know, in New York. Before Mark. I was indifferent towards you."
[pause]
ADDISON: "Yes."
DEREK: "I was absent."
[pause]
ADDISON: "Yes."
DEREK: "I'm partly to blame, for our marriage."
[pause]
ADDISON: "Yes."
DEREK: "I'm sorry... and I'm working on it."
ADDISON: "Okay."
MEREDITH: I... I slept with George. I slept with him and it was a horrible mistake. Now everything has changed and I don’t know how to repair it. I don’t even know where to start, but I just know that I have to and..."
DEREK: [pauses] You tell him that. You find George and you apologize.
MEREDITH: "That’s what everyone’s saying but he wont listen."
DEREK: "You tell him you’re sorry. Just tell him again and again and again until he listens."
MEREDITH: "How do I make him?
DEREK: "Do what I do... use the elevator."
MARK: "Come on Derek, can't we just move past this?"
DEREK: "Go to hell."
MARK: [gestures to Addison] "You forgave her?"
DEREK: "No, I haven't forgiven her. And with you, I'm not legally obligated to try."
ADDISON: "Are you sad? Depressed? What? It's Christmas, Derek. We love Christmas. Or at least we used to."
DEREK: [pauses] "I'm not saying this to hurt you, or because I want to leave you, because I don't. Meredith wasn't a fling. She wasn't revenge. I fell in love with her. That doesn't go away because I decided to stay with you."
ADDISON: "Why did you bring a trout into the trailer?"
DEREK: "This is dinner!"
ADDISON: "I hate this freaking trailer!"
DEREK: "Fine then. No trout for you."
ADDISON: [broods silently]
DEREK: "Okay, I'll cook the trout outside the trailer."
ADDISON: "I still hate the freaking trailer."
MEREDITH: "So that's it? Was that what I was to you? The girl you screwed to get over being screwed?"
DEREK: "You were like coming up for fresh air. It's like I was drowning and you saved me. That's all I know."
MEREDITH: [pauses] "That's not good enough."
MEREDITH: [to Derek] "Stop looking at me like that, like you've seen me naked."
DEREK: [smiles]
DEREK: "Meredith, I am so sorry. Addison. What are you doing here?"
ADDISON: "Well you'd know if you'd bothered to return any one of my phone calls."
MEREDITH: [confused]
ADDISON: "Hi, I'm Addison Shepherd."
MEREDITH: "Shepherd?"
ADDISON: "And you must be the woman who's been screwing my husband."
MEREDITH: [silence]
CRISTINA: "We're in an elevator. That's your specialty, right? McDreamy moments in the elevator?"
DEREK: "Dr. Yang-"
CRISTINA: "You know what? For just a moment, I’m not Dr. Yang and you’re not Dr. Shepherd. You’re the guy who screwed up my friend. The guy who drove her to get a dog she can't keep, the dog she only got because her boyfriend lied to her about his wife."
DEREK: "I never lied to her."
CRISTINA: "Yes you are. You know, I know a liar when I see one because I am a liar."
