Avery isn't happy with how close Jack and Liz are so she tells him to give her up as his mentee. Jack sets out to find a new mentee, but Jonathan, Tracy, Jenna, and Avery don't work out so he goes back to Liz.
Kenneth sees production making up Tracy's new obituary so he decides to show it to him. Tracy doesn't like how bad he's made out to be so he sets out to do something great. Jenna wants a news obit of her own so she creates her own.
Liz's dad comes in from out of town on a gentleman's intermission from the wife. Without Jack as her mentor she tries to solve her dad issue without him. Liz goes to a club to hit on her dad to teach him a lesson, but everyone at the bar agrees she had a terrible plan.
Jack solves Liz's problem by calling up Dick Lemon and yelling at him.

i totally and completely disagree with your review! LOVED LOVED LOVED this episode and so did everyone i know. in particular, i adored every line of the scene at the end with Liz and Jack.

hilarious. and the whole conversation Jack had on the phone with Liz's dad...priceless.
