Recap

At times, this was a tedious two hours that features more voiceover work from Ryan Seacrest than actual music. But we'll ignore the negatives of the episoe and focus on the seven singers that were chosen for the top 24...

Michael Lynche: Remember the man known as "Big Mike?" The brand new father learned of his first child while he was rehearsing for the group round. 26 years old, seems like a nice guy.

Didi Benami: 23 years old, full of emotion because her best friend (a songwriter) died soon before she auditioned. Sang the Kara DioGuardi-written single "Terrified" in Hollywood.

Casey James: Nearly lost the use of his hands in a motorcycle accident. The 28-year old removed his shirt, as Kara's behest, as original auditions.

Aaron Kelly: Only 16, raised by his aunt and uncle.

Lee Dewyze: We didn't see a lot of this 23-year old and Simon Cowell questioned his confidence, but the judges saw something in him and advanced the crooner.

Todrick Hall: Appeared in The Color Purple on Broadway. A 24-year old with a lot of experience.

Katelyn Epperly: Blonde, curly-haired 19-year old. Has sang lead vocals for a folk-rock band called Katelyn & the Bruises.
