Recap

The New Directions reel from the loss of Sectionals following Marley's collapse. Glee club members join other teams while Finn tries to find a place to rehearse after Sue takes over the choir room.

Whoopi Goldberg reprises her role as Carmen Thibadeaux. She issues an invitation to Rachel to sing at the NYADA Winter Showcase, which Rachel handily wins. While at the showcase, Carmen invites Kurt to sing hoping to see heart and emotion in his performance. He later receives a letter of admission to NYADA.

Rachel calls Finn after winning the showcase.

Kate Hudson looks amazing and she has some moves, but if they think they can pretend Cassie is anywhere near the singer Rachel is someone needs a reality check. When Rachel is on fire like this episode it shows Marley for what she is a pale imitation, like Kitty is no Quinn and Ryder is no Finn forget the Mckinley kids and get the others to NY ASAP. So glad Kurt got into NYADA he so deserved it.

This episode was a step up from the last episode where "Gagnum Style" was sung (making absolutely no sense for a competition song). At least now the songs made sense with the background story, and with essentially Curt and Rachel (Lea Michelle and Chris Colfer, among the two of the best original cast members since both had Broadway experience prior to Glee) singing the whole episode with guest songs from Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson, who have decent voices, it was overall a good episode. In fact, if the show just migrated to NY completely and dumped the high school at this point, it might even do better. Ryan Murphy is going to ride the high school scene as long as he can, but after three and a half seasons, it is getting pretty old.
