A tsunami warning was issued and the Five-O were called in to investigate the disappearance of Dr. Norman Russel, the head of the Tsunami Warning Center. An investigation of Dr. Russel's house showed signs of a break in and a struggle confirming suspicions that he was kidnapped.

After interviewing people at the Tsunami Warning Center and thinking about some of the evidence McGarrett wondered if the coming tsunami was actually real. McGarrett called in a favor to a friend in the Navy and discovered that there was a second set of information being fed to the Tsunami Warning Center from the satellites. McGarrett and Danno located the boat that the phony signal was coming from and apprehended the hacker that was sending the signal.

The hacker told McGarrett and Danno that she was only paid to relay information she was sent, and after some coercing the hacker managed to locate where the emails she was receiving were being sent from. The Five-O went to the location and freed Dr. Russel from his captors. Piecing together more of the evidence the Five-O realized that the tsunami hoax was conducted in order to draw attention away from a heist at the H.P.D. Headquarters. The money being stolen was from the same evidence locker the Five-O had taken money from to ransom Chin.

The Five-O moved in and arrested Commander Hale from the Coastguard who had stolen the money and placed it in sandbags that he could collect once the tsunami warning was over.

Knowing that the police would find the money ten million dollars short, the Five-O went to see the governor to face the consequences. McGarrett returned from his chat with the governor and revealed that all the money was accounted for.
