Durant returns to Hell on Wheels, still in pain from his surgery, but alive. His wife accompanies him.
Lily is pushed out of her former position, as well as her living quarters.
Durant and his wife Hannah, despite their over-calculations on when the railroad would be complete, demand Bohannon compensate and complete the bridge in one week.
The Swede sabotages Bohannon's efforts.
Durant tells Ferguson he can't build his home because he owns all the land. He offers him a new job which Bohannon might not like.
Bohannon sets fire to the Swede's tent before staying at Ferguson's unfinished house for the night.
