The gang is at McLarens and Robin (Cobie Smulders), just off her 7 days cleanse 5 days early, is dying for any kind of food.  When she hears the special is a burger, she orders five for the group.  However, when poor Marshall (Jason Segel) gets his, he refuses to eat it.  After all, once you've had the best burger in New York, all other's taste like his uncle's feet.  If they're eatting burgers tonight, they're eatting the best burgers in New York.  The journey begins.

We now learn that was Marshall first moved to New York with Ted, his first time he left the apartment, he discovered this burger join.  It simply had a green door and a red neon sign that said "burger."  Of course since he just moved there he had no idea how to ever get back there.  Just that it was on a numbered street.  Nice

Now, eight years later, it will take an all night journey that involves Regis Philbin and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) constantly pitching how great the new bank he works for is.

Turns out the gang finally finds the spot where the burger joint used to exist... only now it's an ATM for Barney's new bank.  We finally find out why he's been pitching the bank so hard... he got Marshall a job there!!  Turns out this journey was all just an attempt for poor Marshall to go back to a time when he had his whole life ahead of him.  Maybe then he'd be ready to work for a bank.  Right, thanks for a whole episode about getting a burger. 

Oh, then they find the new location and turns out the burger is good.  Regis joins them.
