Major Crimes Season 4 Episode 13 delves into the world of reality television, with an unusual murder, a bunch of larger-than-life suspects and a tragedy that hits too close to home for one detective.

Donna and Chip Cochran are a popular pairing on a reality TV show, American Scavenger Hunt, in which teams of dysfunctional couples compete in physical challenges to find the object of the week. While driving a car with two steering wheels in a race, the Cochrans have an accident. The car goes over a cliff and Donna is killed. Tao quickly concludes this is no accident based on the tire marks. Chip Cochran becomes the prime suspect when it's found out he is a stunt man and that he jumped out of the car just before it crashed.

The detectives' investigation leads them to a bunch of couples, all of whom seem to have exaggerated their personal problems for the sake of drama on the show. They find out that one woman, Colleen Dickerhoof, was guided to flirt with all the men in order to pit them against each other. However, there is a better suspect, and Sharon knows just how to get them to tell on themselves.

While this is going on, Flynn struggles with severe boredom because of his inability to work and Julio finds the case pushes his buttons because of a very personal loss. Meanwhile, Rusty makes a deal with Slider's lawyer to get an interview with Slider about his life.
